Hey , Hope you are doing great! Today we have a series of updates on our recent work, a design diary about our hero Zack and we'll finish off with some exciting news. Unless you want to join playtesting, there is no action to take, just sit back and enjoy the read :) Manufacturing Our new manufacturing partners, BangWee Games, were very proactive in submitting all the corrections they need to make our miniatures compatible with injection moulding. After spending a few months with the project on hold, due to delays on the manufacturing side, we are glad that changing partners was the best choice and we hope we can minimize any potential delay. Many of your already received our STL bundle, we will include the models for moulding in the folder as well. In general you can expect them sturdier and with less thin/empty areas. Revisions We are putting a lot of effort to get all files print ready. We are almost done with cards (the bulk of the work) and we'll soon move to punchboards and boxes. By the next KS update, on October 3rd, we will update rulebook v15 for anybody to comment before its final version is submitted! |

According to the aim of the attacks targeting Bibi&Bobu, it is possible for Bobu to be knocked unconscious. When this happens, counters from Bibi trigger less often (nobody watches her back) but she gets really really pissed, gaining +2 damage to all her actions! |

Art Dario has been very active getting the final versions for the illustrations of Chastity's personality cards and a few cool tokens we were still missing, such as the one shown above! As a last task, he is currently revising all our items. Item cards revision includes modifying some of them following backers' feedback during the campaign, but also generally improving the background and how the illustration fits the card layout! Playtesting In the last two weeks, online playtesting has started again, you can join our discord server to join us! We opened a few other channels in the server to discuss other Kickstarter projects and get to know you all better, so feel free to pop in even just for chatting :) |

Design Diary Today we are talking about Zack! He is one of the 4 core heroes, so no matter which version of Kabula you are getting, you'll have a chance to play him :) Like many of us, Zack spent a conspicuous amount of his time on Earth dreaming of fantasy Worlds, playing board games and video games, watching anime and reading books. Something he did not do was getting acquainted with the opposite sex, which still is a big mystery for him. Once he was summoned to the Island, Zack had this genius intuition: All girls would go crazy for him, if he could just steal Kabula. The fact that he spent most of his life sitting on a couch does not trouble him, unlike other heroes, he knows how things roll in a fantasy World! True or false, the steady conviction of his own skills will definitely give him some advantage on his quest! |

Zack starts with a very peculiar set of equipment: The coolest headband, which does not offer any passive protection (what did you expect??) and a slingshot for kids, which only inflicts 1 damage unless it hits the target on Brain or Teeth. Some may call it lame equipment :) Nonetheless, the Placebo Block on the headband allows you to always block one damage, if spending one Guts (the most common Part on the Island!). Also, Zack has a great special power: Nerd Glasses. Thanks to this, every time he attacks a target outside of his space, he can roll aim twice and choose the result he prefers. Even a weak weapon like the slingshot, gets its bonus damage way more often, if you think about positioning yourself before attacking! Ranged weapons are possibly the most natural choice when you use Zack, and two out of the tree unlockable skills in the personality cards heavily rely on that. Nonetheless, range is not your only option! |

As for any other hero, the outcome on the personality of Zack may change wildly during a game of Kabula! Lazy/Practical (to the left in the image): Let's admit it. This is the most comfy outcome for Zack. Once you collect one #hashtag for lazy or practical, the Couch Potato ability allows you to keep rolling down this path simply by Resting. Flipping this card to its Trending side unlocks Ninja Run, which allows you to move twice as fast than other heroes do. This is not a particularly overblown power (which makes sense as this is the easiest personality to unlock) but you basically use it every turn after unlocking it, it allows you to Rest less often and it couples very nicely with ranged attacks! Creepy/Romantic (central image): Nerdy guy trying too hard to impress girls...you knew this could happen. Once you start on this path, you unlock the bonus Weird Crush, which will give you nausea and push you out of a space every time you end your turn on another hero's space but, you guessed it, it will also give you another #hashtag on this card! Once you have 3 hashtags, enough to be trending, you unlock Loaded. This is an awesome power which, again, couples amazingly well with ranged attacks. With it, you can attack one extra target for each Part you have in your Rage Box, even when the attack was initially intended for a single target. Very fun personality card to play with! Naturelover/Violent (to the right in the image): We all wanted Zack to be a bit more active but this is too much! Now he is always at the gym, hiking or eating some protein shake and can't stop talking about pushing to the limit and his ethical life choices. How boring!
Getting down this path is a bit harder, as you need to spend Part tokens doing Push-Ups to get more hashtags on this card. On the flip side, Push-Ups also gives you Teeth and flipping this card unlocks I know better. With the right equipment, I know better is an amazing bonus, it allows you to spend Teeth for Butt and Butt for Teeth. Teeth and Butt are the most used Parts for high damage attacks and heavy defensive actions, so being able to switch seamlessly between one and the other can really give you an edge...though this power is more circumstantial than the others we have seen before! |

New Games This is just a teaser to get you "psychologically ready" (Getting this AMAZING news too suddenly may make your heart miss a few beats). We have started working on two new games :) One is based on the same universe of Kabula, but it's not a sequel nor an expansion, it is card based and with totally different mechanics. The other is a story driven co-op campaign with "dark vibes". This game will take some time to fully develop but we are already quite excited about it. The work on Kabula has been a lot, and we are giving it full priority over anything else, so we are still at a very early stage for both. You can expect more news and some early playtesting within a couple of months. |
