April is a big month for everyone committed to the fight for justice! Not only is it Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Child Abuse Awareness Month, and National Fair Housing Month, but April 18 - 24 is National Volunteer Week. Northeast New Jersey Legal Services believes no one should be denied a meaningful opportunity to have their day in court simply because they cannot afford a lawyer – including victims of sexual assault or domestic violence. We help survivors obtain restraining orders and other relief to keep them and their families safe from future threats. For more information on our sexual assault and domestic violence services (and more), click here. We could not continue the work that we do without our amazing volunteers. As we continue to strive towards our mission, we encourage everyone to volunteer, sign up for events/trainings, and battle to bridge the justice gap in our communities.
We need attorneys across all legal areas but we’re in particular need of attorneys for our family law (custody, divorces, domestic violence) and our estate planning/living wills clients. Please spread the word and sign up today to get a full list of available cases. |

| | Paterson's Guaranteed Income
Pilot Program Paterson officials say 110 residents who applied to the program will be randomly selected to receive monthly guaranteed income regardless of their employment status.
The Application for Paterson Guaranteed Income went live on April 12 at 12AM and will close on April 30 at 11:59PM. | | |

| | New Jersey launches vaccine
hotline for senior citizens Individuals aged 65 and older can call a special senior hotline at 856-249-7007 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for vaccination scheduling support. Dedicated appointment slots are reserved for those aged 65 and older. Appointment availability and scheduling varies by location. In addition, the State is actively conducting phone outreach to residents ages 65 and over and scheduling COVID-19 vaccine appointments. | | |

NNJLS Staff Spotlight: Dianna Fuller - Managing Attorney (Passaic) Prior to coming to NNJLS, she spent 18 years as an attorney in the family law unit at Essex-Newark Legal Services. Fuller participates as a trainer for Legal Services of New Jersey in Edison, providing trainings in the area of family law as well as basic lawyering advocacy skills and has participated in various community outreach events such as Know Your Rights Seminars in conjunction with the Ombudsman office in Hudson, Passaic and Bergen counties and Domestic Violence awareness presentations in partnership with community agencies. |

She is also currently a member of the Passaic County Domestic Violence Working Group. For many years, Ms. Fuller served on the Supreme Court Committee on Women in the Courts and as a member of the Women of Color subcommittee, participated in the development and dissemination of the July 2009 survey entitled, “Survey on Perceptions of Race and Gender in the Courts”. As a volunteer, she coordinates a coat drive called Alice’s Coats in honor and in memory of her mother, and is active with United Way of Passaic County, Bergen Volunteers, and Jersey Cares. Her commitment to justice and her community is an inspiration to us all! |
