Come to Muddy Paws Marsh for FROGFest, a unique and inspiring program for kids and adults! All will be encouraged to learn about and enjoy nature through art, science, and play at hands-on learning nature stations. This is a wonderful opportunity to get your family out into nature to have some fun while learning about:
• The types of frogs that live in this and other marshes and listen for their ‘songs.' • Shavers Creek Environmental Center (live marsh animals)
• Explore with herpetologist Dr Jim Julian • PSU Master Gardner Pollinator Garden • Art station in the wetlands
• How to have fun in nature and other nature-related activities
• Listen for frog sounds and look for tadpoles
There will be a Muddy Paws Clean-Up/Work Day this Sunday, May 5 from 2:30 - 5:00pm. Come for a little, come for a lot -- any help will be appreciated. Please contact Jim Flanagan, PVCA Environmental Educator, for additional details at pvcaeducator@pennsvalley.net. |

Help Send Penns Valley Students To The Chesapeake Bay |
Help support the next generation of the Penns Valley watershed stewardship! PVCA is coordinating a crowd-funding campaign in support of the Penns Valley Class of 2024's upcoming field trip to the Chesapeake Bay. To date, we have raised $775 of our $2,000 goal. Time is of the essence so make your donation today! Please share the GoFundMe campaign with friends and family, far and wide! Students, teachers and staff are currently planning two field trips this spring and are in need of your financial help. Students are working with PVCA and a number of other conservation agencies to coordinate field trips to Elk Creek in Rebersburg and the Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis, MD. These two trips will allow students to assess the health of local ecosystems and the impact that we as a community have on ecosystems further downstream of our own. Your contribution would assist in providing the bussing necessary for 100 students/chaperones for both trips. You can find more details and make your donation here! |

Martin's Feed and PVCA Partner On Ag Plastic Recycling Program |
Martin's Feed of Coburn and PVCA have teamed up to help the Farmers of Penns and Brush Valleys to recycle "Ag" plastic. This includes everything from ag bags (black on the inside, white on the outside), bale wrap and plastic baler twine. Although Ag plastic is helpful, even essential, to the dairy Farmers of our watershed, the disposal of all this plastic is causing an environmental problem by overloading our landfills and in instances where it is burned, can cause severe health problems. To learn more about this exciting program, contact Bob Vernon at (814) 349-8244. You can also download our new brochure by clicking here to learn more! |

Thank Yous: Thank you to Andrea Ferich for her hard work, long hours and dedication during this year's TreeFest! She has had a number of incredible volunteers chip in and make this year's project a great success. Including today's planting, there are 4 more opportunities to assist her at one of the community planting dates. We will post photos and additional details of the project in an upcoming eBlast. |
