Webinar Recap and Future Plans

On May 29th, 2024, EAASI hosted an insightful webinar exploring diverse career opportunities in the aerial surveying industry. Moderated by Simon Musäus, EAASI Students Committee Leader, the session featured an impressive lineup of speakers from various professional backgrounds, all sharing a passion for mapping. For those who couldn't attend, the webinar video is available here.

We are planning a second edition of this webinar for Autumn 2024. If you are interested in joining as a speaker, please contact us. Your participation can help inspire and guide the next generation of geospatial professionals.

Welcome New Observers

We are delighted to welcome two new Observers to the EAASI community: Geolas and Esri. These additions bring valuable expertise and perspectives to our association. We look forward to their contributions and collaborations within our network. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Geolas and Esri.

EAASI in the News

Geoweek News has recently published an article written by EAASI titled "Exploring the Impact of Crewed Aerial Surveying on Iceland's Volcanic Landscape." EAASI will continue providing this and other media with articles about crewed airborne data use cases. We encourage all members to send in their case studies, projects, or any other material that can showcase the diverse applications of airborne data to Ada Perello, EAASI Communications Manager.

Additionally, we are looking for strategies developed by the aerial mapping industry to reduce its carbon footprint for an upcoming article in GIM International. This could include insights from both large corporations and small to medium-sized companies. Please share your innovative approaches and success stories with us.

New Young Ambassadors

EAASI is proud to announce its first Young Ambassadors: Alice Hilton and Johann Sidial. The Young Ambassador Program aims to showcase diverse and dynamic careers within the aerial surveying industry while empowering young professionals to become ambassadors for their fields. Selected from talented individuals working within EAASI member companies, Alice and Johann will play a vital role in inspiring and guiding future professionals in the industry. Congratulations to both on this well-deserved recognition!

Outstanding Thesis Award

EAASI is currently receiving applications for the Outstanding Thesis Award, "Spatial Business Bridge." This award incentivizes post-graduate students to explore the intersection of Geospatial and Business, particularly in crewed airborne data acquisition. It recognizes students who effectively bridge technical geospatial applications with business elements.

The award is open to post-graduate students at the Master, Doctorate, or Post-Doc level who have submitted their theses in 2022, 2023, or 2024 at a European university. Please share this information with your contacts and encourage eligible students to apply.
