Communicating across Generations

Do you sometimes feel like it has become more difficult to communicate with people, lately?

Can't quite get your questions answered?

Feel like you are speaking a foreign language?

Having to explain or breakdown (define) your every other word?

Animate your conversation?

Well, there is a reason for this.

Did you know . . .

"Thanks to increased life spans,

at least six distinct generations

live side by side in the United States today."

 SOURCE: Pewtrusts.org

"Defining Our Six Generations"

And,

"People are living longer, and more are older than ever before. Spectacular improvements in health and survival and reductions in fertility have driven this momentous shift, which has begun or is expected to begin soon in all countries and areas."

SOURCE: United Nations

Department of Economic and Social Affairs

"World Social Report 2023: Leaving No One Behind in an Ageing World"

One interesting point made in an online blog.

This article offers you the knowledge you may need to communicate effectively with each generation, whether in the workplace and outside the workplace.

Please take the time to read the full article by clicking on link below.

IMPORTANT POINT!!!!

"Acknowledge differences"

"While it may be tempting to bury your head in the sand regarding generational differences in the workforce, it’s better to acknowledge and embrace them. Use them as tools and encourage your team to use these variances as a chance to learn and grow. You did, after all, hire each for their strengths and what they have to offer."

Get Your "House" In Order!

Going over and sifting through the many webpages that offer advice on what to remember to do at year end was inspiring and tiring at the same time. Inspiring because some webpages offered upbeat, positive suggestions, while others offered a myriad of "to do's", although not necessarily negative, can appear to seem exhausting.

Luckily, I did find a newsletter from 2017 (pre-covid) that I encourage you to review. This information gives you some of the "most important" things to do, one being, "Take care of Yourself." Here's the link, I hope you enjoy it.

Forbes newsletter, 5 Things to Remember As You Prepare For Year-End
