📣🌟 Embracing My Latine Heritage: Let's Share & Connect!
As I navigate life's journey, I still feel the profound loss of my furry companion, John, who spent fourteen beautiful years by my side. 🐾
But amid the grief, I've decided to be intentional and authentic in sharing what being Latine means to me.
Being Latine in the U.S. often means making concessions on our identity, sometimes willingly and, at other times, unknowingly. 🤷♀️ It's a complex tapestry that seeps into my writing, making it a part of who I am as an author. This month, I want to open up about this side of me, letting you into my world and the struggles and triumphs it entails.
But that's not all. I'm also on a mission to spotlight incredible works by Latine authors.
📚✨ While the publishing industry is slowly evolving towards inclusivity, it's not happening fast enough for my liking. So, I'm spotlighting Latine authors whose brilliance sometimes goes unnoticed due to undermarketing.
Highlighting diverse authors is my mission, my passion, and my purpose. 🌍💪
Speaking of purpose, I've transformed "Have a Cup of Johanny" into an LLC with a bigger dream in mind – turning it into a publishing house that champions underrepresented voices. I can sometimes be impatient, as you've seen in one of my TikTok videos. I DON'T JUST SIT BACK AND LAMENT when I feel there's no seat at the 'table'. No, I roll up my sleeves, become a carpenter, craft my own table and chair, and warmly invite others to join me.

Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey. Together, we'll make our voices heard, our stories celebrated, and our table ever more inclusive.
With gratitude and warmth, Joa 🌟
