Mon., Jul 4 - Pine Island Parade.  The Matlacha Hookers will have a float. Everyone is welcome!

Mon., Jul 11 - General Meeting at Berts Bar and Grill.  Doors open at 5 pm and meeting starts at 6:30 pm.  Personal Care, School Supply and Wine bottle donations are welcome.

Sat., Jul 16 - Mini MangoMania and Blood Drive - will be held at OLMM Catholic Church.

Sun., Jul 17 - Yucatan Waterside Restaurant 5th Anniversary Dock Party Fundraiser on Sunday, July 17th from 11:00am until 6:00pm to benefit the Matlacha Hookers with Raffles, a Silent Auction, 50/50s and much more. 

Sat., Jul 23 - School Supply 'Stuff the Trailer' event to conclude this year's PIE School Supply Drive. 

Members are encouraged to visit the website for up to date news, meeting minutes, financials, merchandise and committee event forms.   The new Merchandise Catalog is now available.

Madam Letter

Ladies,   July 2022 is anything but a lazy month!   

Please read the 4th of July Herald that went out on June 29th for details about the Matlacha Hookers Float in the Parade.  I do hope that many of you come out to participate and enjoy the Parade!  The Elks always takes care of the kids, thirsty and hungry Parade Participants and those cheering immediately after the Parade.  Do not forget about the Fireworks proudly displayed at the American Legion in St James City starting at dusk!  The Legion will have music and food throughout the day, kids will be treated to ice cream before the Fireworks and both the Elks and Legion are open to the public on the 4th.

On Saturday, July 16th the Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce will host MangoMania at Our Lady of Miraculous Miracles Catholic Church (OLMCC) in Bokeelia.  We will be hosting a Blood Drive and our Merchandise Team will have a Booth where we will be introducing the Pine Island Elementary Fishing Tournament & Derby Shirts along with our fabulous merchandise.  The Hookers will be helping out with activities and games for kids of all ages which the Chamber has developed.  Your help is only needed for a few hours at a time.

BUT WAIT - THERE'S MORE!!!!!!

Yucatan Waterside Restaurant in Matlacha will be celebrating their 5th Anniversary on Sunday, July 17th from 11:00am until 6:00pm with a Dock Party Fundraiser to include Raffles, Silent Auction, 50/50s and much more.  All to benefit the MATLACHA HOOKERS!!!!  We'll be providing a some of the Raffle Baskets and running the 50/50 throughout the day. 

Our School Supply Drive will be for the entire month of July with 'Stuff the Trailer' on Saturday, July 23rd!  

More details will follow in the July 10th Hooker Herald and at our July General Membership Meeting on Monday, July 11th at Bert's Bar.

Thanks to Penny Long, Gail Landis, Kimmy Rasmussen, Julia Gaylor, Heidi Lutz, Darcy Conner, Debra Syring, Joel Russo, Joyce Boyer, Shirley Noble and Lorie Tidwell.  

Ten trashy Hookers and a good sported significant other pitched in on Saturday morning on behalf of the Matlacha Hookers to clean up Pine Island Road from the Yucatan restaurant to Micelli's restaurant.  With 11 energetic volunteers we finished in about an hour and collected about 10 bags of trash.  

Thanks to all who took the time and energy to participate.  Everyone enjoys the trash free entrance and exit as you motor through Matlacha.  Please help us keep our little slice of paradise clean and looking good for all to enjoy.  Know your Hooker participation is valued and please continue making a positive difference in our community.

Wine Collection for the Island Luau Kicks Off

We are requesting all hookers to donate a bottle of wine, valued over $10 for the Island Luau.  Donations can be brought to the General Meetings, starting this month.

In Bokeelia, you may donate your items at the Pine Island Library or Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church. In St. James City, donation bins can be found at the Pine Island Auto Care, the Moose Lodge, Ragged Ass Salon and Pine Island First Baptist Church.

Clothing for Kids Update

Registration continues, with over 200 children expected to participate.  Name assignments for Adoption have begun. If anyone would like to adopt an individual child contact Karen or make a donation online to FISH and designate 'Basket Brigade' in the drop down box.  

Distribution will be Saturday, July 30 from 10-12, followed by the Kiwanis Pool Party at Phillips Park from 12-2 pm.   If interested in helping or need more information please text Karen at 513-265-7123. Thank you!

Personal Care Drive Continues

The Food Pantry is requesting that we continue with collection of personal care products, such as feminine hygiene (tampons and pads), toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, and razors for their clients.  Please bring donations to the next General Meeting or drop off at one of the following locations: Winn-Dixie, V.F.W., American Legion, Moose, Elks, Centennial Bank, the Matlacha Post Office or at the pantry when it is open on Monday and Thursdays, 8:30 am - 10:30 am. Florida’s Summer BreakSpot FREE breakfast and lunch program continues. 

Breakfast at Matlacha Community Center, 4577 Pine Island Rd, NW, Matlacha.  now through July 29 – 9:30-10:00 am, each weekday, Monday through Friday, except for July 4th.

Lunch at Phillips Park Community Pool, 5675 Sesame Dr, Bokeelia.  

now through July 29 – 11:45 am -12:15 pm, each weekday, Monday through Friday, except for July 4th.
