Zoë Kravitz wished me a happy birthday & other news |

Birthday celebrations and surprises, Chanukah preview, and impressive relatives. |

Hello! I love celebrating my birthday! This year was special for many reasons, but especially because I was at a bar Friday in the East Village, and new "it couple" Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum happened to be there (yes, they're dating!). We had a short conversation and they were very nice and normal. Zoë advised me to drink more water, and I listened! I'm definitely going to have to update my celebrity run-in doodle! I've been so busy working on my book, I didn't have time to doodle them. Page Six has been all over it though! Below, enjoy a doodle chronicling a lifetime of fun birthday celebrations (it's from last year, but I don't think I've shared it in the newsletter yet). Plus, I'm sharing illustrations from my Chanukah book, and some up-and-coming celebrities in my own family. Enjoy! If you're new to Danielle in Doodles, welcome! I publish this newsletter of my latest doodles and updates most Sundays, and you can see archives here. |

My best birthday celebrations |
Party planning is in my genes. Ever since I was a kid, my mom would plan fun, creative, and memorable birthday parties for me. Once I became a teenager, I picked it up, executing detail-oriented, elaborate celebrations. Here's is a roundup of some of my favorite birthday moments from ages 3 to 28. They only got more interesting (and logistically complex) as I got older. See the full doodle with pictures here. |

This year's celebration! I'm sorry I don't have a picture of Zoe and Channing, I was trying to play it cool... |

Chanukah (or Hanukkah) book sneak peek |
The book is coming along, and I'm so excited about it! I finished writing it and now am finishing up the drawings. The book will be a guide for all ages, levels of Judaism, and religions to learn about the holiday and find new ways to celebrate. It has lots of drawings and interactive cartoons. I'm working on the illustrations on my tablet and on paper with my collaborator Alice Blanc, who lives in France. |
The book will tell the story of Chanukah in doodles, with me as the guide! |
| | The book will include fun facts, like an argument between two Rabbis about how to light the Menorah. |
| | Alice Blanc drew the dreidel. We'll remind you how to play, and the history of the "gambling" game. |
| | The book includes several holiday recipes, and I drew each chef. This is Jeffrey from The Gefilteria. |

This is a new section! My family is doing some great things, so I thought I'd share. Note to the rest of my family — or friends — who get this, feel free to send me your accomplishments for me to acknowledge! |

My cousin, Ben Mehl, is playing Dante in season 3 of You on Netflix! |
I've seen my cousin in real life at family gatherings, on stage at plays (even one on Broadway), and now on TV! He's playing blind librarian, Dante, alongside Penn Badgley. Congrats, Ben! He's gotten lots of press, read one of the articles here about how he prepared for the role. |

My sister, Lexi, is McGill's Macdonald campus' recruiter — and virtual tour guide |

Thanks for reading! I'm hoping to have the book ready to buy by next week. See you then with some Halloween doodles. |
