As I updated my website to remove events of the past calendar year, it was really special to look back. It was great to perform with Nora Suggs (flute), Danny Webber (guitar), Lisa Turchi (voice), John Arnold (guitar), and Stephen Beaudoin (voice); and with ensembles such as Satori Chamber Ensemble, Argot String Quartet (pictured above), Wolftrap Opera, MEG Theater and Hub Opera Ensemble. Venues ranged from the residence of the Ambassador of Ireland to the Filene Center at Wolftrap and the brand new View Studio Theater at the Maryland Theater in addition to numerous churches, community centers and libraries. Thank you to all who have included me in your programming and projects, and to everyone who has supported me by attending events, purchasing CDs, taking classes, "buying me a coffee" and engaging on social media. I cannot express enough gratitude. In the year coming, I'll be taking some time to plan new musical adventures, reflect, celebrate! rest a little, learn new music, enjoy projects by my friends and explore. I'm looking forward to working on music for electric as well as classical guitar, and will be involved in teaching, research and lecture activities. I hope you will stay in touch. |

This year, I have given talks on subjects ranging from the solo career and compositions of Ida Presti to the history of the sonata for organizations such as the Toronto Guitar Society, Boulanger Initiative and Marlow Guitar International. I am happy to announce that I have been selected to lecture at the 2020 Guitar Foundation of America Convention in Indianapolis. The GFA is the world's largest multi-national guitar organization. This will be my second time lecturing for the GFA and it is an honor to be a part of the convention next June. Please consider attending my upcoming talk at the Washington County Free Library in Hagerstown. It will be a light and enjoyable discussion during which we will celebrate the wonderful and rich history of the classical guitar. https://www.washcolibrary.org/ |

New Recording by Richard Zarou |
Composer Richard Zarou has released his album, A House of Shining Words, featuring musicians Sarah Horick (voice), Yana Hristova (flute), Devree Lewis (cello) and myself on guitar. I recorded the guitar tracks for this album in 2017 and it was great to see the album released this winter. There is a serene quality to the music of this concept album with choral writing as a focus. The text is a mixture of saint writings, such as Julian of Norwich & Sir Thomas Moore, along with the poetry of Sara Teasdale. I hope you will consider purchasing, streaming and supporting Richard's project. |
