We welcomed pigs back on to the farm this month. It was nice to have a break without pigs for the winter (for the first time in 5 years) but we are excited to have them back.
If you have ever seen the animated kids movie Cars, then you might remember the great quote by Tow Mater (the tow truck) where he says "I'm as happy as a tornado in a trailer park!" Well you get a similar vibe from ducks when you let them out of the coop for the first time in spring and they find a puddle. Looks like pure ducky joy!
Where's The Beef?
Well it's currently still growing on our pastures for all those who ordered some. We are also sold out of beef for this year. Sorry if you didn't get in. The plan is to expand the herd a bit this summer so we'll have more availability in future years.
Do you have any Easter traditions? When I (Norwin) was growing up, my family would colour 2-4 dozen eggs and usually our dad would go hide them throughout our yard, along with an Easter nest (small basket) for everyone. The nest would contain some chocolates and other treats, along with a small gift. Then when we got home from church we would all search for the eggs and our own nest.
My parents have kept this tradition going throughout the years and their grandkids are now taking part in the Easter Hunt. It's always a lot of fun and our three year old daughter was looking forward to Easter for a couple of weeks now. To ease the anticipation a bit, her and Ruth have been blowing out and colouring eggs to use as decorations.
