Hello from Corowa...

Save the Date – 'Threeninefivenine' Bushfire Recovery Exhibition

We are very excited to be back hosting exhibitions in the studio, with our first for 2021 taking place at the end of May.

Curated by Architect Callum Andrews, ‘Threeninefivenine’ is a collection of works that explore the role of 18 architecture practices in bushfire recovery projects.

The exhibition will feature an interview from each of the practices, highlighting a project they are working on that is assisting individuals or communities in recovery after being affected by bushfires; whether it be the re-design of a house that was lost or a new building in a bushfire prone area.

Accompanying the interview pieces will be a display of architectural models, drawings, sketches, plans and images of the buildings, that range from completed works to those that are still on the drawing board.

This inspiring exhibition will officially open on Friday 21 May at 5pm, and on behalf of Callum we ask you to please Save the Date and join us to celebrate the opening and view the works.

The exhibition will then run for a week from Saturday 22 May through to Friday 28 May from 9am - 5pm.

Stay tuned for further details in the official invitation to come.

Our Studio Courtyard

When we first moved into our new studio almost two years ago the sunny rear courtyard was bursting with potential.

After meticulously working through exactly how we wanted this space to look and how we needed to use it, work has officially begun on the project.

We partnered with the talented local Landscape Architect Robyn Butcher from Outsider Projects to bring our vision to life; which will include a timber terrace, unique materials cupboards, lush wall creepers, abundant greenery and a striking feature tree.

The outdoor space will not only offer our team a new space to get creative in but will be hugely beneficial for us with our clients - a private meeting area on sunny days, and a space where we can view colour samples and materials in full light.

We can’t wait to share updates with you as works progress in the coming months.

Work Experience Program 2021

This week we have welcomed Mia, a year 10 student from Rutherglen High School who is undertaking four days of work experience.

It is always a pleasure having a new face in the studio, particularly one like Mia with a keen interest in the world of Architecture and Design.

When Aaron and Phillip founded Regional Design Service, their intention was to create an environment where we could mentor work experience students who will head to university and hopefully return to the region as dynamic professionals with a passion for their local community.

Work experience is a rewarding opportunity for our whole team, to share our knowledge and the value of design with school students.

We look forward to continuing to welcome more students to the studio in the future, and in turn hopefully encouraging them to pursue their interests in the profession.
