Very happy for all our members who were celebrating Eid, to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan. |

A huge thank you to MP Matthew Pennycook for meeting with our Stronger Together group and arranging a very informative tour of Parliament! We feel much clearer about our next steps with our #NoticeUs campaign and we hope to go far with our work! |

Our Forum Theatre group, supported by University of Greenwich, took their performance to the Greenwich Borough of Sanctuary meeting as part of our work towards making all GPs in Greenwich Safe Surgeries. It was amazing to see Peter Davis from the council trying out the intervention putting himself in the mother/patient’s shoes. ‘Doctors should listen more to the patient's wishes and lived experience’, an audience member commented as they identified with the scene being played out. |

Our Colours of Greenwich project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, took a trip to the Living Refugee Archive where they had prepared materials from each of the women's countries of origins! The session really highlighted the value in connecting to our histories and got us thinking about how we want to talk about our own stories, pre and post migrating to the UK. A huge thanks to Paul and Monna from the Archive for all their expertise and support on the project so far! |

We are so pleased to have Luca Silvestrini's dance group Protein running these sessions with our ladies. "This will be a learning and creative encounter between Creating Ground’s participants and a group of motivated dance students eager to experience how dance making and performance can reach and touch people on many different levels. Through a mix of movement and spoken word, we’ll create a safe space in which to enjoy, make and share dancing, acting and singing. We will explore and create choreographic ideas around themes close to all taking part, starting from reflecting about identity and being/feeling ‘in between’. We will also be reflecting about the word ‘compassion’, which is this years’ theme of Refugee Week." (Luca Silvestrini, 2023)

Mums' Voices, starting in June, is a series of creative workshops for migrant women who are pregnant or new mums, in partnership with South East London Local Maternity and Neonatal System, to improve NHS maternity services for migrants. This is an opportunity for migrant women to share experiences and have their voices heard so that we can work with the NHS to improve services. In these workshops we will use forum theatre, dance, and other arts to look deeper into how maternity services in Greenwich could be made better for migrant women. If you know any women who might be interested, please email Laura at info@theground.org.uk
