Self Doubt & Project Shadows

Book Birthday

What's up on Tiktok?

August Bookshelf

Hey Friends!

Wow, how is it the end of August already? My kids started school on Monday. The summer flew by so fast! I can't believe I have a 6th grader and a 10th grader. It just doesn't seem possible. I'm still doing physical therapy for my ankle that I broke in January. My foot was in the boot and immobile so long that I'm now basically training my muscles, ligaments, and tendons to do their jobs again. It's taking time, but I'm, thankfully, making progress.

I hope you're all doing well and are ready for fall! It's my favorite time of year, so I definitely can't wait!

I struggled quite a bit this month, but I do have a small update for you.

Find out details below.

This month, whenever I've thought of or attempted to work on Project Shadows, I've struggled with self- doubt and imposter syndrome. You might be wondering why.

As I've stated before, the main character Nori has Aniridia Syndrome, which causes her visual impairment like me. By writing from her point of view and

showing readers what it's like to be visually impaired, I feel like I'm baring my soul in a way, and it's terrifying. I posted about this on Instagram, and many of you were very encouraging. Thank you to all who commented with your kind words of support. I sincerely appreciate it, and they did help.

I'm happy to report that I've worked on it for the past couple of weeks. I decided to change the tense, so I made that change. In September, I plan to revise and send it to my critique partners as soon as possible. While they read episode one, I'll work on drafting episode two until I hear back from my editor on Divine Witches book two. Then I'll concentrate on that so I can get it

to my copy editor on time. :)

Stay tuned for more updates in future newsletters.

In October, I'd love to celebrate the one-year book birthday of The Destined Divines with you all by doing something special. So I asked for some ideas on Instagram, and you gave me some great ones. But I can't quite decide, so I need your help.

Click on the button below to vote for the idea(s) you love most. I can't wait to see what you decide!

Also, just a reminder, one huge way to support other authors and me is to leave a book review on Amazon. Reviews are critical to authors since they help readers find our books. So if you've read The Destined Divines, please consider leaving a short review on Amazon.

I sincerely appreciate your support!

A huge thank you to those who have already left reviews! Your support means everything to me!

I've been posting on Tiktok a lot more lately. I'm trying to figure out what to focus on most. Such as just information on my books or if I should also share anything about myself. Tiktok is different then Instagram, so I want to share what readers want to see from me. So if you're on Tiktok, I'd love and appreciate it if you'd connect with me and let me know what you'd like to see more of from me on Tiktok. TIA! :)

AUGUST

This month I read a variety of books. Including a memoir by Jennette McCurdy called I'm Glad My Mom Died. I listened to the audiobook that Jennette narrated. If you don't know about Jennette, she was a child actress who starred on a hit show called iCarly. It's a heartbreaking story, so there are trigger

warnings listed below to consider.

Trigger warnings: drug & alcohol addiction, physical, emotional & mental abuse from a parent, and eating disorders.

I also highly recommend

This Vicious Grace and Violet Made of Thorns if you love fantasy.

If you love romance, check out Book Lovers.

Make sure to check out all my reads on

The Destined Divines to your TO BE READ list.
