Autumn Dear The summer proved to be slow for international travel, arriving before borders were fully open and accessible. Since September the recovery has begun to gather pace, with restrictions for vaccinated travellers now lifted across the Nordic and Baltic region. Early signs confirm that, as expected, nearby and intra-European markets are the first to travel with countries with early vaccine take-up such as the US also starting to return. Despite many initial concerns about group-travel, it seems clients are attracted by the security of travelling in a group with established operators; the added security of being in a 'group-bubble' resonating with many. What is clear is that when restrictions are fully lifted in and for specific markets, such as in Iceland for US travellers, the numbers were enormous, clearly demonstrating the huge pent up demand. With a clear feeling that the worst is now behind us, like most of us the COLLECTIVE is now drawing up a plan of activity and engagement for 2022. As well as a resumption of our popular online Get-togethers, we are delighted to confirm that the Nordic Marketplace 2022 will be held next year as two half-day online workshops on February 22 and 23rd 2022, with a possible in-person networking-event to be arranged later (details to follow). |
