The Red Hookers Fishing Club Inc was established in 1979 by like minded members of the Redbank Plains Community, to promote an avenue for Friendship and Family enjoyment within the sport of fishing.

2021 a new year

Welcome all to the first newsletter of the year .

This year looks to be jam packed with fishing and camping trips.

As a club we are more committed to getting together at every chance possible .

We have kicked of the year with two events to date, and have the Friday night raffles up and running .

First meeting will be on the 2/2/21 at 7.00pm .

David will send out a zoom invites for anybody unable to attend the meeting.

Club boat

To date the club boat is running well.

We are about to build a 'lean to' for the boat to park under, so stay tuned for info on the working bee.

Thanks to all the guys who have given up their time to keep the club boat in top condition.

Don't forget people, the boat is there for all club members to use .

So get out there and don't forget to send pics of your catch so we can fill up the next news letter.

Club trips

Next event  was going to be at lake boondooma but due to Covid and low water levels they have cancelled this event .

So the club has looked around at a few different trips and settled for lake Borumba  just south of Gympie.

The date for this trip is  from 11th Feb to 15th Feb .

Fishing reports for Lake Borumba all look great, so we should pick up a feed or two .

Currently we don't have a March trip so we need to pop a few suggestions on the calendar and do a little home work .

Australia Day

This event went of well .

As a club boats and crews hit the water from Friday until late Monday .

We ended up with 8 fit and health crabs to race and a couple that didn't last but did end up on the raffle trays .

The day kicked of with the raffles and a few fun games that kept the patrons entertained .

Then it was down to business ,the auction of the crabs .

There was plenty of biding and a few of the crabs fetched a good result for the club .

Everyone that won a crab at the auction then cheering and spraying their crab to be first over the line at the race .

The winner then received a carton of their choose .

Big thanks to everyone that helped out over the weekend to catch the crabs .

And to everyone that helped out on Australia day at the pub .

This years golden crab went to David for the most crabs caught .

How many Weet-bix can you eat .

A small team of pub patrons took on the clock to see how many they could get down in 5 minutes .

Over the xmas break I took the kids for a run down around the pin .

There was plenty of boats out and about trying to get a feed of fish .

I was very lucky and landed a nice 62cm flatty ,big thanks to Ray Ford who shared a few of his tips on how to catch flathead on soft plastics.

Its not easy but if you stick to it you will master the art and land a few  good fish.

Please send in your pics so we can get them in the news letters.
