MYAN WA March Forum: R U Legal Workshop

On the 6th March MYAN WA held it's first forum of the year on the topic of justice. The forum had two parts. The first was an R U Legal workshop run by Casey Johnston, a criminal lawyer from Legal Aid W.A and focused on the legal rights of young people, police powers and other topics including accessing interpreters. The second part was a group discussion on issues experienced by migrant and refugee young people in the legal and justice system. We have made the findings from the group discussion into an infographic which you can read at the link below.

We thank Casey Johnston and Legal Aid W.A. for their time in educating us on an important topic.

Invitation: Youth Sector Response to COVID-19

The Youth Affairs Council of WA (YACWA) invites all youth service providers to join us in one of three online workshops on Wednesday 25 March to discuss the issues posed by COVID-19 on youth service provision in Western Australia.

YACWA is committed to advocating for the needs of all youth service providers throughout the COVID-19 outbreak. We aim to be a staunch and powerful advocate to the State Government on the sector’s needs, as well as provide critical guidance to service providers to prepare and respond in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak.

This is an opportunity to learn of existing resources to support organisational COVID-19 planning, as well as ensure your unique needs are heard in YACWA’s voice to State Government.

Workshop details are as below:
