As we conclude our last week of OutGrowth's 2019 Impact Cohort, and kick off the final month of summer, we dedicate our August issue to education. A broad concept, we typically tend to limit our definition of education to the institution itself, which is highly formalized and structured. Today, we give you a taste of just how diverse and dynamic educational approaches can be, as we remain dedicated to thinking differently about learning concepts that often go unquestioned. At OutGrowth, we pride ourselves on re-imagining the education space, fusing formal and informal paths to create a more holistic approach to building our lives and careers. This month, we feature pioneers in education who are leading the charge in shifting our systems. We also provide you with some of our favorite resources to inspire and ignite your educational journey, as we together build our way forward as lifelong learners. Happy reading. Grow out with us. |

I didn’t set out to be a software developer. It wasn’t on any career map or aptitude test. I fell into it because I like solving problems, and in tech, there is never a shortage of problems to solve. Things change for the better, and for the worse, all in one go. Thanks to the pace of changes, freely shared information, and the lack of material costs, it's also a great place to refine other valuable skills at the same time. |

'There's no greater freedom than finding your purpose, says education advocate Ashweetha Shetty. Born to a poor family in rural India, Shetty didn't let the social norms of her community stifle her dreams and silence her voice. In this personal talk, she shares how she found self-worth through education -- and how she's working to empower other rural youth to explore their potential. "All of us are born into a reality that we blindly accept -- until something awakens us and a new world opens up," Shetty says.' | | |
