Spring Recap

I recently returned from Toronto where I gave a lecture about legendary guitarist, Ida Presti, for the Toronto Guitar Society's Guitar Weekend. It was a really enjoyable experience with great performances and lectures by Berta Rojas, Brent Crawford, Bokyung Byun and Mariette Stephenson. I was able to meet many wonderful people and l am already looking forward to visiting Toronto again. You can listen to performances by some of those artists here: https://youtu.be/jUEtjsqQNu8

April brought the unique experience of conducting an orchestra of more than 60 all-county guitar students for the Loudoun County Guitar Middle School Festival. I was joined by colleagues Michael DeLalla, Kami Rowen and Joseph Pecoraro for two days of conducting, coaching and workshops. I returned to northern Virginia in May to adjudicate for the Aguado Guitar Competition with Javier Farias and Young Ik Jang, and directed by Miroslav Loncar–it is fantastic to see so many young students involved in the classical guitar!

Other activities for me this spring have included concerts, lectures, recording, teaching and guitar history research. As for the months coming up, in addition to rehearsing several programs of solo and chamber music for concerts, I am working on new solo repertoire and hope to initiate recording and video projects. It is a very busy time but full of art and music!

As always, thank you for your support and I hope to see you at an upcoming performance.
