Does my landlord have the right to evict me without notice? |
Hey there! Having a tough time with your landlord and would like to know if they can evict you without notice? No worries Reyets has you covered, to put it simply no your landlord cannot evict you without notice. If you are a paying tenant with a lease your landlord must give you at least 30 days notice before evicting you. If you are violating rules of the rented space your landlord can give you a written warning that complies with the state law. After said notice if the issue is still happening the landlord can take further steps to evict you. Violations are different for every renter space, when you sign your lease make sure to read through carefully. If you have been evicted from your space without proper notice and you are a leasing tenant double check that you’re in compliance with the terms. If necessary, review state laws to ensure you’re in the right and if necessary, contact an attorney.

🙋🏽‍♀️ Civil Rights Pioneer Meet Shirley Chisholm |
Shirley Chisholm born in 1924 to two immigrant parents in Brooklyn, New York. Shirley Chisholm was the first African American woman to be elected into the United States congress. Shirley started her career as a child care provider and earned her Master’s in early childhood education and by 1960 she was the consultant to the New York City Division of DayCare. Having first hand experience with racial and gender inequality she joined organizations like NAACP, League of Women Voters, and Democratic Party club. Four years later in 1964 Chisholm ran for New York Legislature becoming the second African American woman to do so. Her time in the New York Legislature lasted about four years, and in 1968 she ran for United States Congress and won. This win was due to the redistricting that happened in the Brooklyn district that created a heavily democratic area. During her time in congress Shirley supported the increasing of funds for education, more accessible health care, fought to legalize abortions, improving opportunities for inner-city residents, and most importantly racial and gender equality. Shirley retired from congress in 1983 after serving for 14 years. During her time in Congress, she became the voice of thousands, and her fight for gender equality paved the way for other Black women to run for Congress. |

⚡️ In The News: A Day To Remember In 1965 hundreds of people marched from Selma to Montgomery in efforts to fight voter suppression. The march led to a widely known name “Bloody Sunday '' to most people this event is known as a part of American history but to others it's a piece of their life. Sheyann Webb-Christburg was just nine years old when she disobeyed her parents orders and joined the march on Selma. She marched all the way to St.Jude Catholic Church just outside Montgomery before marchers realized she was all alone and her father came to pick her up. In protest her father drove her all the way back for the last day of the march. That same 9 year old girl who marched alongside leaders like John Lewis and Martin Luther King continues to advocate for civil rights and shares her story that changed her life. |
