New Location!

New Treatment Room!

Well, this is exciting!

This is the first newsletter I've sent since relocating from London to East Coker!

So much has changed in my life over the past year, one of the key things being I now have my own treatment room!

If you've not seen it yet, here is my new treatment room in my home in East Coker. Setting it up from scratch has been a real labour of love. I'm thrilled to say that it is now up and running and ready to receive you for a relaxing holistic massage.

If you would like a treatment here please get in touch!

Introducing

Hot and Cold Stone Therapy

Ever since I was a young child I have loved collecting stones from the beach. I love the way they look and how they feel in my hand. Since working as a massage therapist I have been fascinated with the idea of combining stones with massage. And now... I can!

I have recently qualified as a Hot and Cold Stone Massage Therapist and to celebrate this I offered a number of free 1 hour treatments to the people of East and West Coker. As you can imagine the places were snapped up quickly!

It's a real pleasure to be able to offer this treatment and I get so much useful feedback from my volunteers. It's a really valuable experience as a therapist to be able to work with a wide range of people, including those who may not have thought to try massage before. I'm really grateful to everyone for their help!

If you missed out on a free treatment do not despair! You can now book your Hot and Cold Stones treatment with me using the link below.

Prices:

1 hour treatment is £50

90 minute treatment is £65

Where to start with... Yoga?

Along with massage, one of my great loves is yoga. I have been practicing yoga for many years now and I really notice a big difference in my body and mind because of this practice. When working with some of my clients I often find it helpful to suggest various stretches that they can fit into their daily life to help their body.

I often use my yoga practice as an inspiration for these stretches, in fact quite often I recommend that my clients look into yoga themselves. If you would like to start your own yoga practice I would strongly recommend finding a good local yoga class with a teacher that you are comfortable with.

Most classes will accept beginners and yoga poses can be adapted to all body types. If you have a good teacher you will be able to get so much out of a regular class.

If heading to a class as a yoga virgin seems a little scary, don't worry! There are many professional and safe classes that can be found online. This way you will be able to see what it's all about and learn some of the basic positions before you take the plunge!

One of the best online teachers I have found is Yoga With Adrienne. Her YouTube channel is incredibly popular and with good reason. As a good example of one of her many beginner focused videos, have a look at the one below.

Of course yoga is so much more than the physical poses. It is an holistic practice that you can use throughout every aspect of your life. If you are interested in learning more about yoga I would recommend starting with The Eight Limbs Of Yoga - A Handbook For Living Yoga Philosophy by S. Sarbacker and K. Kimple.

This book takes this huge topic and manages to translate it to the layperson in a way that is really relatable. I have actually read this book twice and I'm sure I'll read it again in the future. It's a really good starting point for anyone interested in finding more about yoga beyond the asanas.

Why not try...?

Today's recommendation is one of my favourite teas.

What is your caffeine intake like? Do you feel like you're drinking too much tea or coffee in a day? Maybe you're drinking coffee late in the afternoon and it's affecting your sleep?

"Well, what's the alternative?" you cry.

How about lemongrass tea? It is naturally caffeine free and the benefits of drinking it are numerous.

Lemongrass has long been used as a remedy to promote sleep, relieve pain, and boost immunity.

Lemongrass has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. It works as an anti-inflammatory. It can aid your digestion and can act as a diuretic. It may even help to reduce high blood pressure and regulate cholesterol! (you can read more about this here).

Best of all, it tastes amazing. It's a tea that mixes really well with so many others so if you are into tea mixology (as I am) lemongrass makes for a wonderful base flavour. It is slightly sweet and helps to tone down bitter tastes like green tea or more powerful tastes like ginger.

So why not try replacing the last cup of coffee that you normally have with a cup of lemongrass tea? Give it a week and see how you feel!
