A Letter from Ivonne

Good afternoon Sisters!

I want to thank you all for being such amaXIng sisters! Thank you for all your support and help these past two years. It is hard to believe my presidencies (AXiDHOU and HAPA) are coming to an end. Time flies. It has been a great honor representing you within both organizations as well as nationally.

It is time to elect a new Executive Board and President! As per our bylaws (revised in 2019) the Executive Board will serve for two (2) years.

“Article 14. Executive Board. Effective with the 2020-2021 Program Year, the officers of the Executive Board shall serve two-year terms which begin on June 1st and end on May 31st. All officers and committee chairs must pay Annual Dues by July 1st of the current Fiscal Year or within one month of the beginning of their term.”

The new President will also serve as our voting delegate at the 2023 National Convention in NEW YORK CITY! So fun, cannot wait!

Click the link below to the 2022-2024 Membership Interest Survey. Please return this form as soon as possible but I have set a deadline, so a slate may be put together for voting, as SUNDAY, MARCH 6th. The slate will be presented to the Executive Board for approval at the March Executive Board meeting and upon approval presented the membership digitally in April, prior to Founders Day (which will be in person at Brennan’s on April 10th) for your final vote.

At this time, HAPA is the only position officially taken, however as you all know my position within, and passion for, HAPA I hope you will join one of the many committees available if you would like to become involved!

We will once again be presenting a $2,000 scholarship at the HAPA/HAPF Scholarship Luncheon (Thursday, May 5th at the Junior League). If you would like to contribute you may do so via VENMO, Zelle and of course a check made to Alpha Xi Delta Houston and sent to Financial VP Donna Hawes (financialvp@axidhouston.com)!

CASA de Esperanza de los Ninos and AXiD

Alpha Xi Delta's National Philanthropy  is called the "Kindly Hearts Campaign (KHC)." Our Collegiate Chapters and Alumnae Associations across the nation are creating project plans within one or more of the following areas of focus: supporting students, food insecurity, and basic needs shortages.

Houston has selected CASA de Esperanza de los Ninos which strives to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect for at-risk infants, children and their families by providing comprehensive residential and family support programs that transform people and communities.

We went online with CASA de Esperanza January 22 for a virtual tour and Q&A session. 

The tour was a great way to introduce CASA and AXiD to each other.

We look forward to volunteering together!
