Join our nationwide climbing event to
help fight cancer June 1 – August 31, 2021

For first-timers, a little background information: in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 the Climb for Cancer Foundation organized teams across the US to climb the highest peak in each state while raising funds to help ease the financial and emotional burdens cancer patients and their families face. It was an inspiring opportunity to join with friends and family to help make a real impact in the ongoing battle to fight cancer and support those undergoing treatment.

50-50-1 (50 States - 50 Peaks - One Goal) is a great corporate team-building activity, a way to connect with friends across America, and an opportunity to climb for, or with, a survivor, and an experience that honors all of those who have been touched by cancer.

Fast forward ten years to 2020: the Climb for Cancer Foundation had resurrected the event with more tools for fundraising and more opportunities for climbers of all skill levels, but the pandemic had other ideas. Sadly, the event was canceled. But one year and millions of vaccines later, 50-50-1 can be a COVID-safe outdoor event in 2021, and a great way to socialize with friends and family. Just pick a location close to home and follow the CDC guidelines. We have changed the original 2006 event from a single day to a summer-long event from June 1 to August 31, 2021. That way each team can choose a time in June through August that works best for their team climb.

Why 50-50-1?

One of Climb for Cancer Foundation’s most important programs, Harriet’s Helping Hand, helps defray the cost of treatment by providing food vouchers, gas cards, and lodging to cancer patients and their families.

Half of the money each team raises will be donated to create a Harriet’s Helping Hand financial support program at a non-profit cancer treatment center in the team’s state or region.

Peaks by State

While some mountains will require prior experience to climb, individuals can hike many of the country’s high points without much difficulty, making the climb attainable for everyone.
