Rally Round Up

Little Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

Thanks to everyone that attended and volunteered their time to make our Little Sturgis Motorcycle Rally a success! We estimate the attendance to be 7,000-7,500 over the 3 day event. We received over $2,000 from vendors for sales tax and fees. The town received over $35,000 in revenue which includes $20,000 being deposited for the 3 days. Your participation and support is appreciated and needed as we look forward to growing the Rally!

The Morgantown Bridge Closure:

A Call for Community Impact Reports

The closure of the Morgantown bridge has been an undeniable source of inconvenience and frustration for the community. The impacts have been felt far and wide, affecting everything from daily commutes to local businesses.

Now, elected officials are asking every individual or business impacted by the Morgantown bridge closure submit an email detailing the negative effects. This information is critical to securing the necessary funding and resources to address the issue. Your input could make a significant difference in bringing attention to the real economic burden this closure has caused.

What to Include in Your Email

When writing your email, be as detailed as possible. Here are some examples of what you could include:

  • Lost Revenue: If you are a business owner, how much revenue have you lost due to the closure? For instance, if you transport timber or farm goods, how much income has been affected because of the longer travel routes?

  • Increased Transportation Costs: How has the increased distance due to the bridge closure affected your fuel costs? Whether it's driving to work, transporting goods, or simply getting around town, detail the financial impact.

  • Impact on Employment: Has the closure made it harder for you to get to work? If so, how much additional time and money has it cost you?

  • Effects on Public Services: How has the closure impacted essential services like the US Postal Service, school transportation, or emergency services? Be sure to quantify the additional costs or delays experienced.

  • Other Areas: Any other areas where you've felt a negative impact, such as additional costs to attend church or community events, should also be included.

Where to Send Your Information

Please send your detailed impact reports to the following email address: townofsturgisms@gmail.com.

Why Your Help is Needed

This data is vital for demonstrating the true extent of the economic impact that the bridge closure has created. Without detailed, quantifiable reports, it will be challenging to secure the necessary support to mitigate these impacts. Your contribution could be the key to unlocking the funding needed to restore the bridge and alleviate the strain on our community.

Let's come together and ensure that the voices of those affected are heard. Your input is not just valuable—it's essential. Please take the time to document your experience and submit it as soon as possible.

Your cooperation and support in this matter are greatly appreciated. Together, we can make a difference.
