Record Breaking Turnout! A Heartfelt Thanks to All Who Attended
The 100th Birthday Tribute to James Galanos was a huge success with hundreds gathering to celebrate the legendary designer. We are immensely grateful to all who joined us for this special event. The museum exhibition was buzzing with excitement as we honored the life and work of James Galanos.
Among the attendees were individuals with personal connections to Galanos. These included a woman who worked in his Los Angeles studio during the 1950s, a seamstress responsible for alterations of his designs, and the grandson of a tailor who was a pattern maker in the same studio. An haute couture client who purchased Galanos's designs and has donated her gowns to prestigious museums was also present. A fashion professor from Los Angeles expressed surprise at learning Galanos had released sewing patterns for the home dressmaker during his career.
Thank you to everyone who gathered in his honor and helped make this event a memorable and successful one. If you missed May's exhibit, we will be exhibiting one last time during 1st Thursday Artwalk on June 6.

Who Sews the Museum's Clothes?
We often receive questions about who sews the historically accurate clothing exhibited at our museum. As of now, our Founder, Cara Austine, personally undertakes the creating and sewing of the period-appropriate outfits. As a new museum with limited funding, we rely on the Founder, the dedication of our Founding Members, and the students of our 4-week Masterclass series to contribute historically accurate ensembles and costumes to be exhibited. As we grow, we hope to expand our team and work with more professional seamstresses to assist with this important aspect of our museum's presentation. If you have a passion for historical fashion and would like to contribute to the exhibitions, we encourage you to sign up to be a Founding Member or for the 4-week Masterclass and help contribute your creative gifts and talents to our exhibitions.
Blog Reader Membership Has Been Retired and Transformed to Upholders of Couture
Exciting news! Our museum is making some changes to our membership programs. The previous Blog Reader memberships have transformed into a new and improved membership called "Upholders of Couture." As a special perk, we will be grandfathering current blog readers into this new membership, allowing you access to more online programs, database, cafe talks, and blog. This updated membership will provide an enhanced experience. For current blog readers, if you have trouble accessing any spaces, please reach out so we can work through any hiccups. We want to provide our members with even more opportunities to connect with our museum and its offerings.
