Happy 2023!

We are very thankful for all the amazing customers who made 2022 a great year. Blazin Saddles truly wouldn’t exist without supporters like you. We are excited to find out what 2023 has in store. Speaking of store, have you stopped into the store lately? We have a bunch of new 2023 bikes and gear in stock, and lots more on the way!

In this next year, we want to deliver more than ever before with our monthly Roundups. To do this, we have two favors to ask: Firstly, if you have any topics you would like to see in future editions, please send them in a quick email to info@blazinsaddleshub.com. 📰 We Are Now Offering In-House Suspension Service

Is your mountain bike more than two years old? It is recommended you service your mountain bike suspension fork and shock every two years to maintain proper functionality and to prevent the need for the replacement of costly parts.

Historically, getting your suspension serviced has been slow because we—and most other bike shops—outsource suspension services. However, this is, for the most part, no longer the case!

To celebrate this new service, we will be offering $50 off a fork and rear shock service when done together for the entire month of February. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to save money and let the experts get your ride running as smoothly as possible before spring’s long repair queues and all-time riding. It’s free to bring in your bike and have us give you an estimate.

🔧 Estimated Repair Time

There is currently no repair wait. Don't wait until the premium weather to get your bike in—get it ready now!

Walk-ins are welcomed, and appointments are appreciated—call 541-719-1213 to schedule.

❗Fat Bike Season is Here

If the trails and roads are snow-covered, fat biking is a great way to keep pedaling. We are currently stocking Norco and Salsa’s big tired beasts to help people get out as easily as possible.

If you’ve never tried fat biking, you should; it’s a whole new discipline of biking. And the cherry on top is that Central Oregon is one of the best places in the US to do it. Check out Bendtrails.com to get a glimpse of the fat bike trails in Central Oregon that are currently open.

You can also get out early on the trails before they thaw, or head east to areas like Maston, Grey Butte, and Horse Ridge, if other trails are snow-covered. Stop by the shop if you are looking for new riding options, we are happy to send you in the right direction!

🎁 Bike Drive Results

Our holiday bike drive this last holiday season was a major success! We have donated close to 500 bikes back to the Central Oregon community in the last eight years. This wouldn’t be possible without such a generous community.

A standout individual that is a part of our community is Sisters Resident Kevin Chudy. Kevin has not only provided great help in past years' bike drives but is also involved with a nonprofit called Doctors with Health Bridges International, which donates bicycles to kids in Peru. Learn more about it by watching the video below:

❄️ Sno-Park Permits

From November 1 to April 30, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) requires all vehicles parked at designated sno-parks to have a permit.

Here are the finer details from ODOT’s website:

  • You can move a Sno-Park permit from one vehicle to another.

  • You can use California and Idaho Sno-Park permits in Oregon.

  • You can use Oregon Sno-Park permits in California and Idaho.

  • You may get a fine for parking in a Sno-Park without a permit.

🚴‍♂️ McKenzie Pass Status

McKenzie Pass is CLOSED and unrideable. Expect it to open up mid-spring.

First Ever UCI Gravel Worlds 🚲

“Gravel is a funny thing to get a grasp on. Equal parts drama. Equal parts debate. The inaugural UCI Gravel World Championships were always going to create a buzz. From route design to scheduling, and surfaces to semi self-supported feed stations, the question of whether gravel even needs a World Championships took a backseat in the furore over what was happening on the ground.” Read more on BMC's website.

Stringies Armfree Eyewear 👓

Bennett Lewis and Dan Schmidt are no strangers to solving problems in Central Oregon. From going to school in Sisters to starting their business careers together wrenching at Blazin Saddles. Since they worked at the shop, they’ve both moved to Colorado for college and have been focusing on a problem we active Central Oregonians struggle with nearly year-round: eyewear.

Most eyewear owns people, meaning the fear of breaking or scratching it pulls away from fully focusing on adventures at hand. Both Bennett and Dan understand how heavily people in the outdoor community rely on their products to keep them safe and comfortable. That’s why they set out to reimagine eyewear, the most faulty piece of equipment that was in both of their gear arsenals. They strive to create the most hard-wearing eyewear anyone could ask for with their company, Stringies Armfree Eyewear. With Stringies, the two have reimagined eyewear by removing the side arms and replacing them with a string that cinches comfortably to the wearer's head. This design is the most comfortable pair of shades you’ll ever slip on and one that will last substantially longer because there are no side arms to be broken.

In a day and age where everything is over complicated, they set out to simplify and streamline a product that doesn’t break the bank or in the bottom of your Camelback. You can expect the same durability from your Stringies as your favorite pocket knife.

Primarily produced from bio-based materials that are good for the earth, Stringies are ready to let you focus fully on your next adventure, whether that be skiing at Hoodoo or driving to work. Read more about them and see their latest products on their website, Stringies.co, and stop in the shop to see some of their earliest pairs.

January's Must-Watch 📺

Young Central Oregon rider Ryan McNulty is really making a name for himself within the industry. It's not unreasonable to expect him to be one of the key faces of the freeride mountain bike space soon.

Check out this video below to learn more about the wunderkind:

“Freeride up-and-comer Ryan McNulty lives to ride, detailing cars to earn the cash so he can head to the likes of Proving Grounds and Freeride Fiesta, all to chase his dream of one day competing in Rampage. Those around him can see that it will only be a matter of time until his name is on that start list.

We caught up with Ryan to document his raw passion for the sport and followed him through his home trails in Oregon, and all the way down to his second home of the Utah desert as he etched in some lines in the dust to go big.”

And with that, you are now at the end of this month’s Roundup. Thank you so much for reading it through. When we say we wouldn’t be here without people like you, we truly mean it. Cheers to continuing to support us in 2023.

Hoping to see you on the trails or in the shop,
