SPECIAL ISSUE

Hi friend

It seems like such a long time ago when we first started thinking about selling fresh turkeys for the holidays, but now it's just over a week away! Is it just us or does it seem like this year has flown by?

Since you have pre-ordered one of our turkeys (thank you for that, by the way), we just wanted to give you some information about pick-up, payment, and storage for your bird.

Turkeys will be available for pick-up from the Farm Store between

Thursday, November 18th - Tuesday, November 23rd.

Our store is open 9am - 4pm, so stop by anytime!

Please provide a team member with your name upon arrival, and we'll make sure we have everything in your order ready to go.

If you're not yet sure when you're going to stop by to get your turkey, might we suggest coming during Farm Fest (Nov. 20 - 23), so that you can check out all of the the amazing local products that will round out your Turkey Day festivities.

In addition to KCF staples like sweatshirts, mugs, and kids gear, we will have goodies from these local businesses:

- artisan-baked breads & incredible organic maple syrup from Woodshed Bread

- pumpkin pie, apple galette, s'mores pie, maple pecan pie as well as chocolate chip & ginger molasses cookies from Blue House Bakeshop

- the BEST potatoes for mashing (and other fresh veggies) from Jericho Settlers Farm

- pumpkin & cranberry breads, wreaths & oodles of gourds from Guillemette Farm

- Amaryllis & Paperwhite flower kits from Diddle & Zen

...and more!

The cost of the turkeys is $4.99/lb. Each bird has been weighed and packaged, and the total price will be noted on your turkey at pick-up.

We accept a variety of payment methods, so you can choose to pay with cash, check or Venmo. If you prefer to pay with a credit card, just let a team member know and we will be happy to run that for you.

When it comes to tips for storing and thawing turkeys, there's no one better to consult than Butterball. They're the experts on this holiday meal, so we're happy to share their tips with you:

First, a thawed turkey can stay in your refrigerator (40 degrees F or below) for up to 4 days prior to cooking. While there are multiple safe ways to thaw your turkey, please do no thaw your bird at room temperature.

Refrigerator Thawing

  • Thaw turkey breast side up, in an unopened wrapper on a tray in the fridge (40 degrees F or below).
  • Allow at least 1 day of thawing for every 4 lbs of turkey.
  • Keep turkey in original wrapper and place on tray.
  • Use turkey within 4 days after thawing.

Cold Water Thawing

  • Thaw turkey breast side down, in an unopened wrapper, with enough cold water to cover your turkey completely.
  • Change water every 30 minutes and if turkey cannot be completely covered, rotate every 30 minutes to keep the turkey chilled.
  • Estimate a minimum thawing time of 30 minutes per lb of turkey.

They even have handy calculators on their website so you can figure out how much turkey you need, how long to thaw it, and how long to cook it. Check it out HERE!
