NGPC LAKE HAVASU

DEC 12-13

The last round of NGPC in Lake Havasu was a great end to the year. With only Caitlyn Kurtz having a championship on the line this weekend, we were able to keep it fun and use the time to grow for the start of next season.

Unfortunately we didn't have Sharon Mowell with us this weekend due to her getting sick, we hope she gets well soon. Mason Ottersberg was with us this weekend, but is still healing from injury. Luckily the doctor has cleared him to start normal training and will be back on the motorcycle by Christmas time. We also moved Tyler Lynn up to his first pro race debut on the Yamaha 450FX. Justin Seeds finished his last official pro race and will be moving to the vet pro class for 2021.

Thomas Dunn nursed a thumb injury sustained a couple weeks ago and put on a good ride on to finish the year. Caitlyn Kurtz finished the season strong with a Championship in  women's 4 stroke open A. Last, but not least, we added Ava Silvestri to our roster for 2021 competing in women's pro. She is just 16 years old and has a ton of potential to dominate the pro class in her future. She competed on a Purvines Racing Yamaha this weekend to get the valuable seat time she needs for 2021.

TYLER LYNN

9TH

PRO

Tyler showed true potential to be a podium guy in the pro class this weekend for his first race. He ran in the top 3 for a couple laps off the start, but would concede after the track started to shape up. It was evident we have more testing to do, to get the bike where Tyler needs it to be. There is no time as valuable as being in the race to learn what needs to get better and we are looking forward to 2021 with Tyler in the pro class.

In his words: "This weekend would be my first race in the Open Pro class on the 450 so I was super excited. I got off to a great start and ran within the top 5 for the first few laps till I started getting some bad arm pump and couldn’t find a flow. With it being my first race on the big bike on such a gnarly course it was hard to get use to the power and the way the bike was working. I just rode the race and tried figuring out what I need to be better at for the 2021 season. I definitely didn’t have the best finish but I came home with a lot of knowledge and excited for what the future holds.  Thanks to everyone involved in this year’s program. Definitely appreciate it a lot. On to 2021!!"

JUSTIN SEEDS

8TH

PRO

It was Justins last official Pro race of his career, he will be racing for the vet pro championship in 2021. Justin battled hard with his teammate Tyler and put on a fun showing. We are happy to have helped him finish out his pro career with us and hope he finds all the success he can outside of it. Next year with him racing vet pro for us, we plan to use that time for bike and rider development in many areas. With his knowledge he can be a good asset to the team.

In his words: "Vet pro Started of getting into the lead after the first 2 corners but arm pump and not finding a grove would push me back to 4th  but was able to get second for the year.

Pro I Had a mid pack start and tried to work my way forward at the beginning. Mid race I unfortunately had a little crash trying to not take out my teammate Tyler and then having a miscommunication in the pits I was only able to pull off a 8th."

THOMAS DUNN

7TH

PRO 250

Thomas has been nursing a thumb injury sustained in practice a couple weeks ago. It has been bothersome to a degree and rode well considering the pain he has. He is looking forward to a little time off in this short off season we do have to let it heal. He showed more speed and learned a lot about what he needs for the 2021 season.

In his words: "Learned a lot this weekend. Found a bike set up I felt comfortable on for gnarly tracks like Havasu. Also learned how to ride the sand a bit better. I got off to a decent start and tried to hang with the top guys as long as I could. Found a decent flow and was a lot more consistent then I have been the past few rounds. Ended up 7th in pro 2 and 5th in 250 AA. Thanks to the whole Purvines team for all the help this weekend. Excited for the next one!"

CAITLYN KURTZ

4TH

WOMEN'S EXPERT

Caitlyn of course, consistent as always. Her speed is incredibly better than it was at round one and has flashes of what you could picture Brandy Richards looking like. Developing her skills has been impressive to say the least in just a short years time. We want to congratulate her on a Championship win in 4 stroke Open A. Look for more from her in 2021!

In her words: "What a crazy way to finish off the NGPC series for round 9 at Havasu! Saturday’s race I had a great start but lagged behind in the tight sections of the course. I managed to maintain a consistent speed and finish the race in fourth for the Women’s Expert class. Sunday’s race on the other hand was rough and physically demanding. I got a mid pack start but was able to make up time quickly moving into first. With a few close calls and what seemed to be a never ending race I was able to stay on the bike to finish first in the Women’s Four-stroke Open A class.

AVA SILVESTRI

3RD

WOMEN'S PRO

Ava is our newest addition to the Purvines Racing team. Just 16 years old, she finished 4th in the women's pro championship after missing a handful of rounds. She has potential to compete against the best women in the class and we are excited to help her grow! She finished 3rd with her first race on a Yamaha 250FX after coming from KTM.

In her words: "I was super excited coming into this weekend, but the nerves were also at a high with it being my first race with the new team. I felt super comfortable on the new bike all weekend and was gelling with the course super well. I was able to win Women’s AA on Saturday and after a long hour and a half of sand whoops I came away with a third in Pro Women today! Super happy with the weekend and I’m coming away with a lot of positives and can’t wait for the new year!"
