MOVING INTO FALL! TopLine Tri athletes have enjoyed a wonderful summer season of training and racing and many are looking forward to fall races also. Our sport allows us to train and race almost 10 months of the year which means we can maintain a good level of fitness throughout the year. Because the triathlon and running season is so long, it is important to plan recovery time throughout the year and on a weekly and daily basis as well. In this edition, I discuss the importance of recovery and how to plan your year to allow for maximum fitness gains and adequate downtime also. | | |

IRONMAN WISCONSIN Lubbock was well represented at this year's Ironman Wisconsin. Race conditions were a big departure from what we had trained in. Race day brought cool temperatures, choppy water, and rain on the run. However, the weather did not dampen the spirits of fans! The streets were lined with spectators pulling us through some of the tougher moments on the bike and run. Pictured left is Coach Nik, running through Camp Randall Stadium. Below left and right is the awesome Lubbock crew including athletes Jeff Hancock, Andy Wilson, Leesa and Ed Price, Scott Burris, Marti Greer, and fellow Texan, Jose Flores. A huge thanks to our family and friends for their constant support and cheering on course. If you have not experienced this race, we highly recommend you put this one on your list! |

DISCO TRI SPRINT Sondra Richards (pictured far right) can tell you a lot about overcoming adversity to compete in the sport she loves. Sondra underwent knee surgery in late 2018 and patiently worked her way back to fitness in 2019. Sondra balances her academic career with being a mom, taking care of her family, and traveling for work. Sondra took 3rd place in her age group at the Disco Tri Sprint in Denton, TX and found joy in doing what she loves. Congrats Sondra! |

SHALLOWATER STAMPEDE Carla Stence (left) has been with us for just over a year and her fitness has progressed tremendously in that time. At the Shallowater Stampede 10K in September, Carla knocked 9 minutes off her time from last year and won her age group! Carla, and her daughter and fellow TLT athlete, Amy Dawson share a love for sport and a fierce determination to continuously improve! |
