Hakalau Choco-letter

January 2023

Happy 2023, Chocolate Fans! January has brought more sunny, dry days. This red hibiscus reminds me of a twirling flamenco dancer, reveling in the sunshine. It is next to a cacao tree in one of our many mixed-planting beds, one of the delights to be found walking around the farm.

More Ways to Feel Good

Here's an amazing bit of good luck - a two-ounce, 80% dark chocolate bar such as ours' provides 6.2 grams of fiber! That's more than a cup of broccoli or an oat bran muffin! Because our bars contain no added cocoa butter, which is counted towards the total percentage dark on chocolate labels, they have an even higher concentration of health benefits (fiber, antioxidants, magnesium) than other 80% bars. Our nibs bars (seen above) are at least 85% cacao. You can indulge and feel good about it!

Dried Organic Apple Bananas - free with a subscription

These delicious bananas from our farm are a perfect flavor complement to our dark, lightly bitter chocolate! Apple bananas are very popular in Hawaii for their yummy, lightly sweet and tangy taste. This month, we are adding a gift of 2 ounces of dried apple bananas to our subscribers' monthly orders. Every month there is a different treat. To subscribe, just select any chocolate offering in our on-line store and under price options, choose the subscription and then "subscribe now." At 10% off plus the freebie, it's a really good deal!

  Paleo Snack

To take it up a notch, order our pure, whole cacao beans together with your new subscription's free dried bananas. You wrap a banana around a nib for a zero-sugar, paleo, healthy treat! These organically grown beans are fermented in banana leaves, too; it's a natural pairing!

Gift Cards are Now More Flexible

We had just launched our gift cards and quickly realized they were unnecessarily restrictive. Well, we are marketing novices. So now you can purchase gift cards in increments of $25. Think of a gift card for Valentines... birthdays... Mothers Day... or when you go to Hawaii and everyone at home is jealous.

That's all for now! We hope 2023 will bring much sweetness to your life! Aloha,

Dan and Rachel
