The theme of my letter three weeks ago was to "Connect, Reconnect, and Stay Connected". At the end of the letter, I invited my connections for a cup of coffee or drink. Read the letter
I had an exceptionally talented student at the FIU Honors College. In response to my letter, he contacted me immediately and scheduled a coffee shop appointment for our meeting. My workload is so huge that I rarely have time to learn more about my students, since I have more than 200 students every semester. During my time as his professor, I did not get to know him very well. The coffee chat gave me the opportunity to learn more about him. It has been my pleasure to know that he is eager to make a great contribution to the community and is also hoping to make a difference. Guess what, we also discovered we had common interests: playing the guitar and attending rock concerts!
I was able to identify and learn many of his shining qualities from our 2-hours conversation. The people like him are who have inspired me to do what I do. Same, I want others to be inspired to try what they may dream about doing. The power of connection is obvious from the example provided- "Each One Teach One!"
The truth is, we all have something to learn from one another every day. The domino effect of positive energy is real. We have a positive domino effect on those around us when we inspire others, which in turn has a positive domino effect on the world overall.
I appreciate you taking the time to read my short letter today. Again, I am open to connecting and reconnecting with more people. I would like to hear from you so that we can learn from each other.
