MARCH SHOUTOUT LET'S TALK ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF PEN & PAPER |

Why I'm a Big Believer In Using Pen & Paper It's hard to believe almost an entire year has passed since we entered into the world shutting down. I know my world, along with yours, was rocked entirely when my systems, structures, familiar routines, and daily rhythms were utterly disrupted. To help me cope through this last year, and every year prior since I was about 8 years old, the main anchoring tool I use for organizing my life is my notebook and pen. I have always been a list maker, and while I now use more tech tools (like Evernote and Google Keep) to hold many of my larger, more complex projects and goals, every single day (even weekends) I still make a daily list on paper. Fast forward to my career and to-do lists is a significant area I do coaching around with employees, managers, and leaders. In this area, there is a lot of debate about paper vs. tech, but I hear from clients all the time that while they "want" to be techier and they "think" they should NOT use a notebook, most gravitate back towards pen and paper. Here's my theory: pen-and-paper is reliable, it's trustworthy, it's accessible, and it makes you feel damn good to cross stuff off! Simple and to the point. Drop me a message and tell me what system you are currently using for your to-do's. I love hearing from you! |

My Latest Article Pen & Paper: Simple To-Do List Strategies My article in The Santa Barbara Independent dives into the importance of using pen and paper when creating your to-do lists. Storing problems, ideas, and to-dos in your brain hinders your critical thinking, and causes stress. Therefore, I outline my strategy for creating an evolving to-do list that helps you not only clear your mind, but be more productive in your day.

What I'm Reading The Body Keeps the Score This book kept showing up in my life in various ways for years—someone would mention it on a podcast, I would read something on it, and I would hear about it in different circles of conversation. Therefore, I finally decided this year to dig into it. I have found it to be very interesting, somewhat intense at times, and full of really good stuff like the neuroscience of trauma, the "why" behind trauma, and how it lives in our bodies years later. It also includes lots of work around healing and moving through it. If you have had past traumas (and who hasn't?), there is much to be learned from The Body Keeps the Score!
