Announcements and Awards Congratulations to the Medical Imaging Group on being selected into the Young Investigator Session of Physics, Instrumentation, and Data Sciences at the SNMMI 2020 Annual Meeting The SNMMI 2020 Annual Meeting took place virtually from July 11 to July 14, featuring an exceptional program highlighted by some of the hottest topics in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. Two BME Ph.D. students, Tiantian Li and Yiran Wang received honorable mentions for their work. Dr. Zhaoheng Xie from the Qi Lab received first place for his work on "Anatomy-guided PET image reconstruction with deep neural network." We congratulate them all! Read the full article here. Congratulations to Dr. Randy Carney and his lab for receiving $2.5 million in NIH funding to develop nanotechnologies to identify early cancer traces From Dr. Carney: “One of the things we know best is that when we catch the cancer early on, the outcomes are way better,” he said. “It’s feasible that in our lifetimes, cancer will be a manageable disease, but we need technologies like this to figure out how to do that.” Read the full article here. Congratulations, Dr. Carney! Congratulations to Dr. Louie and her lab whose recent paper in the field of MRI Relaxometry was featured in highlights of the Journal of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine In their paper "A novel gamma GLM approach to MRI relaxometry comparisons," Dr. Angelique Louie and her lab proposed a new model for analyzing MRI relaxometry data and was shown to be more precise and accurate than current models of relaxometry determination. Read the full interview by ISMRM here. Support BESA by ordering business cards or buying some BESA swag! Business cards are available through Repro Graphics for interested students and post-docs.
