Registration deadline extension

Registrations are still open, with limited spots available across all regional contests. We have received a large amount of interest, with lots of registrations either completed or pending.

We have received lots of requests from communities for a bit more time to get their registrations in, so we are glad to extend the registration deadline to 11:59pm on Sunday 21 July to allow groups more time to sign up.

Competition Song

The highly anticipated competition song will be available from 5 July. Groups who register by 5 July will receive a link to download the sheet music and relevant files. Those who register after 5 July will receive the competition song shortly after their registration is confirmed.

We are excited to announce that the competition song will be translated into several Pacific languages, allowing groups to choose the language that best represents their heritage. Additionally, learning tracks for each choir part will be available to assist in the learning process.

Choir Eligibility

Initially, Musika Moana Choir Competition was intended to be solely for choirs from established church communities, or have an affiliation to a church. However, after talking with various Pasifika communities across Aotearoa, we recognise that the diversity and richness of our Pacific diaspora extends across non-church communities as well.

So, to acknowledge the vastness of our people and to ensure this competition is even more inclusive, we are excited to confirm that Pasifika choirs from all community types, including non-church communities, are eligible to participate in Musika Moana. Please note that school groups (choirs representing primary, intermediate, or high schools) are not eligible to participate.

Our competition judges

Stay tuned for more details on our world-class judging panel who will be overseeing all our regional contests. We will announce the full judging panel at www.musikamoana.com, as well as on our social media accounts, 7PM, Sunday 30 June.
