IT'S TIME TO ENDORSE THE FOUNDATIONAL STANDARDS!!!

Support the efforts of MN-TAC in our commitment to safe and healthy work environments for all theater makers. Sign your name to endorse the standards today!

Hello MN-TAC Community,

The Minnesota Theater Foundational Standards

for Safety and Accountability

have launched and are in circulation! Thank you to everyone who volunteered time to make this document a powerful statement, letting everyone know the importance of a commitment to safety and accountability in our MN theaters and educational institutions. The MN-TAC administrators and editors are now in the process of meeting with the Board of Directors of several MN theaters to get organization endorsements. If you haven't already done so, you can help us in our effort of showing them the importance of this community run effort by going to the MN-TAC website and signing your name to support the Foundational Standards. Your name will be added to our growing list of signatories on our website. Share this newsletter with other theater makers, or link it on your social media so we can keep building our community.

To understand more about why and how the document was made, you can click HERE to view our introductory video.

Still not sure what it means to sign your name? Endorsing the Standards isn't signing a contract. It's an agreement to be in the conversation about best practices, to commit to being our best selves in our working relationships, and be willing to walk towards accountability when things don't go the way they should. It's about saying yes to a set of ideals that are of mutual benefit to the health of theaters and theater makers.

WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING?

The Minnesota Theater Alliance is reving up again after many months in limbo. Colleen Somerville is the new Program Director, and MN-TAC admins have been in communication with her, figuring out ways to combine our efforts to support safety in MN Theaters and make that resource more available to individual theater makers and not just organizations. Keep your eyes peeled for more information about this in the near future!

The MN-TAC editing team continues to work on

The Standards Toolkit,

which is similar to existing documents from other cities but includes much more for areas not included in other documents, such as production departments.
The Toolkit will include:

Area Specific Standards which will provide goals and strategies for a variety of concerns in all areas of theater making and education.

Standards in Action which will provide policies and procedures for situations from audition notices through post production evaluations.

There was extensive work done over the past year to further develop standards specific to the needs of theater education called

The Minnesota Theater Standards for Education and Learning Spaces.

The work being done to develop them is profoundly important and are currently being finished and formatted. This document will be available as soon as possible.

If you want more information about any of these subjects, please visit the MNTAC.org website, or contact us at admin@mntac.org.

THANK YOU!!!

Thank you for your continued support and interest in the work we are doing to try and make safer spaces for all theater makers across Minnesota. If you know people who might be interested in the work we are doing, please share this newsletter with them, especially those not on social media.
