Earlier this year, SCFPC members were given the opportunity to complete a survey to provide input on creating subcommittees. Based on these surveys, the SCFPC Board of Directors identified 6 potential areas on which those subcommittees could focus. In lieu of our next Quarterly General Membership Meeting, which would normally be held in January 2022, SCFPC will be facilitating discussions around each of these topic areas to explore whether to establish a formal subcommittee. All SCFPC members are encouraged to participate in as many of these discussions as they would like. Follow the links below to register. |

2022 Community Garden Grant Applications Now Open! |
|
|
Applications are now open! SCACED has partnered with the South Carolina Office of Rural Health (SCORH) in a Health Equity Initiative to address COVID-19 health disparities among high-risk and underserved populations, including racial and ethnic minorities and rural residents. South Carolina’s Health Equity Initiative is part of a national project by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), supported by funding through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act. One of the objectives is to make available twenty (20) single grant awards in the amount of $3,000.00 for the establishment and expansion of community gardens in low-income, rural communities. The Community Garden grants will offer training paired with funding to support minority and veteran producers in furthering the production of fruits and vegetables as an important source of fresh food and nutrition to communities lacking access to locally grown produce.
SCACED is also hosting a virtual pre-application workshop for potential applicants on Thursday, January 13, 2022, where SCACED will walk through the steps of this year's applications process. Click here to register for the workshop.
**The deadline to apply is Friday, January 28, 2022.** |
