| | How do you feel about congestion charging? You are invited to have your say on whether motorists should pay congestion charges to use certain roads at certain times in Auckland. In an attempt to ease traffic congestion, Central Government, Auckland Transport and Auckland Council officials are considering the idea of introducing the road charges. | | Calls for a trial cycle lane over the Harbour Bridge With uncertainty over the future of the Skypath, Bike Auckland are asking for a 3 month trial for a dedicated path over the Harbour Bridge. Transport emissions need to be reduced in order to meet climate targets, and reducing vehicle numbers is one way to achieve that. | | New train between Auckland & Hamilton A new train service between Waikato and Auckland has been launched. There will be two return services on weekdays to get commuters to Papakura in time for the start of the workday. Once in Auckland commuters will transfer to the AT Metro Southern Line and continue into Auckland’s city centre. The estimated the total journey from Hamilton to Britomart will take 2.5 hours. The trains have free wifi and a cafe bar which could make this a great way to avoid traffic congestion. | | |

| | NZ's first hydrogen bus launched in Auckland Auckland Transport (AT) unveiled New Zealand’s first hydrogen fuel cell bus, as AT transitions to an emissions-free fleet. The bus was unveiled at Ports of Auckland – where the bus will be refuelled with green hydrogen. The bus is AT’s biggest single deck bus, and will be trialed to see how operating costs compare to similar diesel and electric buses. The bus was built in Christchurch and will be operated for an initial two-year trial period. Read more from AT in the link below. | | |

| | Project WAVE underway Project WAVE (Westhaven and Viaduct Enhancements) looks to improve access for people on bikes in the Viaduct Harbour and Westhaven areas. To ensure the cycleway does not have an adverse impact on businesses along the route, AT will install a trial cycleway. The idea behind the trial is to test out our design over a period of months and make refinements. The cycleway to connect the Nelson Street and Quay Street cycleways, along with a one-way system, additional loading zones, and pedestrian crossing points. According to research done by Uswitch, Ardern’s zero emissions state car is the only one of its kind, with the next greenest being Jose Mujica (the president of Uruguay) who drives an 1987 VW Beetle. It doesn't emit all that much CO2, rated at 113g/km. Scott Morrison’s BMW 7 Series is on the list, emitting 178g/km of CO2, along with the Queens Bentley emitting 335g/km of CO2.
