BGC Joliet Launches Racial Equity Program on MLK Day

The Boys & Girls Club of Joliet officially LAUNCHED our Racial Equity Program on a very reflective Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, with the help of some amazing supporters and volunteers. On MLK Day, youth received a very special activity kit, along with a gift card to a local food establishment to support their families.

This event and program was sponsored by our amazing  new friends at the Target Distribution Center in Channahon, IL! We were also joined by volunteers from the Will County Board, Natalie Coleman and Margaret Tyson, as well as Kesha Dawn, from the United Way of Will County, who was also responsible for facilitating this initiative and sponsorship from Target Distribution Center.

During the first week of February, we will be launching  the second portion of our Racial Equity Program, "Grow Together," which will be a live guided virtual curriculum for the kids that promotes peace and equality for all, in honor of Dr. King and his message.

Thank you to our special friends at Target DC, our wonderful volunteers, and the United Way of Will County for prioritizing this message of unity for the youth in our community that need us the most!

IKEA returns to BGC Joliet for Walkthrough

Shortly after the Boys & Girls Club of Joliet suffered severe water damage to the first floor/offices as a result of a devastating storm last May, we were contacted by Mr. Kevin Hegarty, from IKEA Distribution, Joliet, IL

and along with Mr. Sebastian Di Clemente, they were able to process a donation of 13 pallets of brand new furniture and accessories to assist us in our rebuilding efforts!

We were excited to welcome back Mr. Hegarty and Mr. Di Clemente to the Club to see the wonderful progress that has been made and how important their donation was for us!

Thank you, IKEA Distribution, Joliet/Minooka, IL, you have been an integral part of our reconstruction efforts and have done a great service to our community youth!

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT

Our "Sponsor Spotlight" for the month of January is on OLD NAVY!

Old Navy has been nothing short of amazing as a partner of the Boys & Girls Club of Joliet. The partnership began with our wonderful friend, Tracey Silney, who has since moved out state. Tracey truly set the strong momentum of this partnership in motion and we are happy to report that still stay in contact with her to this day!

Since Tracey departed the area, we have been absolutely blessed to grow this partnership even bigger with the dedicated support of the amazing, Emaleigh Mason-Oswego Old Navy GM and Tori Quintana-Joliet Old Navy GM, as well as all of the wonderful store associates that have assisted.

Over the years Old Navy has provided the following to the Boys & Girls Club of Joliet:
