Communi-T Productions hosts its first Movie Night at Cape Cinema! The event kicks off with a special Drag Queen performance from Miss Conception at 6 p.m. The movie, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, begins at 7 p.m.

 

 Support this incredible multi-media production company that tells BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and LGBTQIA+ stories through film and performance. Belonging Books may even have a book stand set up! Buy tickets in advance.

Love Local Fest | Hyannis

Love Live Local is bringing community and small businesses together again at its signature Love Local Fest! Come support makers, artists and small businesses on Sunday, September 24 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Aselton Park!

Banned Book Week

October 1-7, 2023

The American Library Association reported 1,269 attempts to censor library books and resources in 2022, the highest number of attempted book bans since ALA began compiling data about censorship in libraries more than 20 years ago. As you're well aware, books of LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC stories were among the most challenged books.

 

Belonging Books is rolling up its metaphorical sleeves to contribute to the fight. Stay tuned for more, and in the meantime, read away!!!

Author Talk: Nikki Shannon Smith

Early October, 2023

Nikki Shannon Smith is the author of numerous books, ranging from picture books to young adult. Her work includes the Azaleah Lane chapter book series, the Brown Baby Parade board book series and five titles in the historical fiction/adventure middle-grade series, Girls Survive.
