As parents to two small children, our owners set out to make Brass Bear Brewing as inclusive as possible. We have a kid-friendly zone in both locations.

Yes, you heard that right. We have a second location on Los Positas behind Gelsons. Experience something new, beloved, and a magic mountain view at our new location.

Freshly prepared by our qualified chefs. Our cuisine is influenced by the unique local Santa Barbara culture. Our Funkzone location is perfect for lunch and quick bites. Uptown is better for a sit down meal with friends or date night!

Here is our story.

In Feb 2016, we opened the doors to Brass Bear Brewing in the Funkzone of Santa Barbara. CA, one block from the ocean, featuring our high-quality craft beer, rotating guest taps, wine, sparkling wine, and cider. Locally sourced ingredients are vital to our menu. Our menu comprises locally sourced charcuterie boards, tri-tip skewers, chicken, shrimp, occasionally shark, burger, and hot toasted sandwiches.

During a cross-country National Parks road trip from New York to California, the Brass Bear name was born! Coincidentally, in our favorite park. We went camping in Glacier (the kind which involves signing your life away at the ranger station and being armed with bear spray).

The late afternoon sun hit the bears perfectly and turned them into a beautiful brass color. They glanced our way and with a decisive grunt carried on. We agreed over dinner that night that this would be the perfect name for our own business one day, to remind us to face our fears and keep on trekking!

WE UNDERSTAND!

To help parents enjoy a hot meal and a glass of beer or wine, Brass Bear has a supervised art/play area with toys and art supplies. It's simple but fun for all ages called CLUB CUB.

We stopped taking our boys to restaurants because it was so challenging. Either one of us, if not both of us, would end up eating cold food or getting it to go. A couple of minutes is all you need sometimes!

Meet the Team

 

Lindsay Anderson - Owner

Lindsay attended junior high, high school, and college here in Santa Barbara. She worked for Channel Island Surfboards during high school and college.

After College, Lindsay worked her way up to the International Visual Director of Massimo Dutti in New York City. During a night out with her rooommates the two met and the rest is history!

Lindsay bought Seth a home brewing kit for their first Christmas together and to this day they still brew from some of those recipes.

Seth Anderson - Owner

Seth is originally from Virginia but was working in New York City for Goldman Sachs for 7 years when he met Lindsay. After homebrewing together for a few years in their 500-square-foot apartment they decided to leave their jobs to travel for a year.

The two set out “WWOOF” ing across Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. This is where they perfected the details of their dream of one day owning a business.

 
 
 

Martin Gomez - Head Chef Uptown

As a 16-year-old, Martin immigrated to California from Oaxaca, Mexico. Martin worked at Stella Mares as a dishwasher for 6 months beginning in 1999. As a result, his passion for cooking began to blossom, and he knew he wanted to make cooking his life's work.

With 15 years of experience at Estella Mare and 7 years at Cafe Stella, Chef Martin is so excited to be your head chef at Brass Bear Brewing. Martin is looking forward to providing his best to make your experience at Brass Bear Brewing as enjoyable as possible.

Saul González - FUNKZONE BAr Lead

Saul fell in love with Santa Barbara, CA when he moved here 20 years ago. His love for the outdoors and exploring is only matched by beer itself. Saul was a banker for 8 years before he decided that the cubicle life wasn’t for him. Now, he spends his days working at the Bear, relaxing on the beach, and restaurant tasting in SB.
