Welcoming Spring...

...the time for new beginnings!

Autism Acceptance Month

Autism Acceptance Month is 10 years old this year and was established by autistic individuals to move beyond awareness and into real acceptance as an action, challenging some of the language and practices of autism organizations and well-meaning allies.  If we are to best serve the autistic community, we should really listen to the voices of those within that community.  Feel free to read more on the intention of Autism Acceptance Month in the article below.

April Challenge

No one knows it all and we are constantly learning new and better systems.  This is apart of growing and is never cause for shame.  As we all continue to grow as individuals and professionals within this field, keeping up with the changing of times is just what we do.  I'm always trying to become a better SLP as it relates to those I serve and how my practices affect those individuals  Just because it's how it's always been does not mean it's how it should always be.  We grow, we evolve and we better ourselves.

On my IG I recently posted that I would be using my page to amplify the voices of the autistic community this month.  My challenge for you this month is to simply listen to the voices of the autistic community and hear what they have to say and how they feel about their neurodivergence.  I personally have learned a lot in a short period of time by doing so.
