Hello, from the LANCE Trust’s small but busy team! We really appreciate your support: signing up to our newsletter, following our Facebook page and volunteering (see below for an opportunity to help out!)

Our mission, as ever, is to maintain and increase biodiversity in and around Long Ashton, here’s what’s happening…

✂️ If you do one thing this month for wildlife...

Hold off just a little while longer before tidying up that hedge! The breeding season for British garden birds is March to August so, despite things starting to get a little unruly, delay cutting back hedges until September if you can. That being said - at any time of year - always check for active birds' nests before you start trimming. It's actually an offence to "intentionally take, damage or destroy the nest of any wild bird while it is in use or being built". If you are lucky enough to find a nest, you might be able to identify it here.

🙌 We are officially a charity

With so much ambition and lots we want to achieve, we recently applied for charitable status. Being a charity will help us in many ways, including the way the Trust is run and being able to accept donations - feel free to test out our new donation button!

🧁 Cake & cafe volunteers wanted!

We'll be running the cafe in the Long Ashton Village Market on Saturday Sept 2nd - but we need your help!

We're looking for volunteers to either donate a bake for the day, or to help out with serving for an hour. Please get in touch if you could help.

🏆 Bee Bold Award

We've shared this success everywhere... aside from in our newsletter! We're very proud to announce our work was awarded the 'People For Nature' award at WECA's Bee Bold awards. You might have spotted the video, filmed in Peel Park, on our homepage.
