Safe Passage Across Networks

Our Mission: Safe Passage Across Networks (SPAN) offers a home to anyone committed to healthy transitions and attachment security. We connect, equip and refresh transitions-care providers.

SPAN Across the World

There’s an old African proverb that says “If you want to go quickly, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” At Safe Passage Across Networks (SPAN) we feel fortunate to be able to walk the journey of positive transitions-care alongside partners who inspire and support our work.

February Highlights:

  • In our monthly gathering in The Nest, we were grateful to have Scott Jamieson from Inspire Citizens join us.

  • Jane Barron (SPAN Director of Training & Consulting) and Valérie Besanceney (SPAN Executive Director) joined Elizabeth Gillies on a podcast episode of Successful Student Transitions.

  • Valérie had the pleasure of facilitating in-person workshops for students and parents at the International School Haarlem, the Netherlands.

March Highlights:

  • Jane and Valérie also enjoyed facilitating an interactive and insightful workshop alongside David Willows and Suzette Parlevliet from [Yellow Car] (join the [Yellow Car] Community to listen to the recording).

  • Aleka Bilan (SPAN Director of Events) attended the ISCA Bangkok Conference in-person to represent SPAN as an official exhibitor.

While each of us might look at it from slightly different angles, we all share a common goal: the wellbeing of our students and the positive development of our communities. We might go slower than we sometimes want but we are definitely going together and far.

Laws of Transitions Certificate Course

In January 2023, we welcomed our fourth cohort of our Laws of Transitions Certification Course. This intensive, 8-week online course provides participants with understanding and practical strategies to develop or enhance transitions-care for students, staff and families in their school community.

The current Laws of Transitions Certificate Course cohort is in full learning mode, getting ready to conclude their course and create their graduating project. We have been blown away by the depth and breadth of the discussions, by the commitment of the cohort to the understanding and further development of positive transitions-care in their communities and by how open each participant has been to share from their personal experiences so that others could learn and empathize. We feel incredibly privileged to have front row seats witnessing this transformation and look forward to continuing this dialogue in upcoming events.

“Essential for good learning! There is connection with the facilitators, and also with other participants. The questions and activities support the learning goals and are grounded in research to enhance the learning experience. This has been well thought through and I appreciate it.”
