ISSUE 9, November 2021

Welcome my November monthly newsletter! :)

I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend a week in Egypt with my hubby for a quick vacation. I have shared in my recent "Plan With Me November" video what a lovely time we had, but also how hard it was to come back after such a short time. What helped me the most was to journal about it - both writing about the feelings I was dealing with and creating a small page in my Traveler's Notebook using some of the ephemera I brought from Egypt.

I can now say I am happy to be back, doing what I love, and having a whole lot of beautiful memories, some of which I will be documenting in my "Sunday Junk Journal Snacks" series. Maybe you can relate with a similar experience?

If you have any suggestions or ideas you want to see here, please just drop me an email at 49dragonflies@gmail.com.

My hubby took this photo of me at the Marina in Hurghada, Egypt. We were sitting in a café and I was so surprised that even there they had mushrooms as a theme, how fun! :)

BRAND NEW IN MY SHOP!

I'm so happy that so many of you are loving my latest digitals "On My Desk", created in collaboration with my very talented friend, Ray. We wanted to create a kit which all crafters could relate to by featuring items we would find on our desk while crafting/journaling. I'm so pleased with how they turned out. I also used these designs for the November planner kits. I'm happy to say Ray and I are already working on another very special kit :).

EXCLUSIVE SNEAK PEEK

This photo is an exclusive sneak peek of my upcoming video in which I make the cover for my first ever shabby chic junk journal. I did my best to use soft colors and lots of lace and pearls. I'm curious what you will think :).

WHAT'S ON MY DESK

Maybe you remember my Asian-Fusion accordion junk journal I made a few months back. I mentioned in that video how much I love the format and would definitely be trying it again....this photo is of a more Christmassy version of an accordion junk journal I'm working on.....

FREEBIES

My latest freebie for you is one I have just created especially for my newsletter readers and have not mentioned anywhere else. They are scans of my Gelli plate prints I used for my autumn junk journal. I thought you might want to use them as journaling cards or tear them up for collaging. Enjoy! :)

A VIDEO YOU MISSED?

Maybe you missed the first 2 videos of my latest mini-series "5 Artists - 1 Folio", which is an international collaboration with 4 other amazing artists: joie de fi, Luise Heinzl, ARTYmaze and Teal and Tattered Journals. Each artist made 6 pieces of ephemera using my "On My Desk" digital kit, which were then mailed to me to include in a folio I'm creating, which will be the prize in a give-away for you! :) Be sure subscribe to my channel so you don't miss that upcoming video!

FEATURING Gayle from Scottsdale, AZ USA

In this section I like to present projects created by my viewers.

This is a photo of Gayle's front cover and spine inspired by my “Paper Bag Junk Journal Cover” video.

Gayle:

My first “junk journal“ was actually an art journal/travel notebook which I compiled out of ephemera just to record the memories from a weekend long trip. Then I started to explore the possibilities on YouTube et voila.

I do like the grungy look and tend use dark colors.

I used a padded mailer from an Amazon package (heaven knows I have enough of those) for my cover.  The deposits of foam padding made for interesting textured effect after the painted cover dried -- almost like waves. The packaging required no glue or sewing and left me with 1 nice pocket on each of the front and back covers. The signatures were primarily created out of happy mail and “gifted” items as well as ephemera and vintage book pages from my own stash inspired as well by your playlist.

I want to be featured next!
