OP-ED: CANCELING THE KEYSTONE XL & GREEN JOBS BAYCS team member Shireen Katyal discusses one of President Biden's first executive orders to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline. She writes, "canceling oil pipelines and other fossil fuel interests is only useful when there are countermeasures to support the environment and the people. For example, for every pipeline lost, thousands of green jobs should be created. Not only do we need to emphasize what not to do, but also how we can create a greener America." |   | |

WE MADE 200 ECO-FRIENDLY HYGIENE KITS! In the new year, we’re continuing our California Eco-Fridge Project! This month, we assembled 200 eco-friendly hygiene kits to donate to local community fridges in Marin and Oakland. We couldn’t have made this project happen without generous donations from Avocado Mattresses, Necessaire, Allbirds, Grove Collaborative, and members of our own communities. Thank you to all who donated reusable bags! |

Over the years, Kenya has been signing global agreements to stop the importation of plastic waste from coming into their country. However, the American Chemistry Council, which represents many of America’s biggest oil companies, is pressing Kenya to become Africa’s hub for plastics and plastic waste.
