Hello Room 115 Families! I hope you all had an amazing Spring Break filled with unforgettable adventures! It was such a joy to welcome your children back into our classroom this week. Can you believe we're only 41 school days away from the end of kindergarten? This week, we placed extra emphasis on reinforcing classroom routines, expectations, and our class promise. My goal is to ensure that each and every one of our students is fully prepared for the exciting journey ahead in first grade. Today, our hardworking kiddos earned a well-deserved movie reward, and we had an absolute blast together! For a more detailed look at our week, please see the newsletter below. Additionally, I'd like to draw your attention to some important upcoming dates that will be here before we know it. Lastly, as we prepare for Monday's solar eclipse viewing party, students are welcome to bring blankets and/or towels for comfort. Each student will receive special solar eclipse glasses, and it's essential that we emphasize the importance of keeping these glasses on during the event. Thank you all so much for your continued support, and I wish you a wonderful weekend ahead! Ms. Clark |

Phonics Our kindergarteners are becoming pros at blends and digraphs! They're rocking those tricky sounds at the start of words. I'm also making sure to give each child exactly what they need. Everyone's working on activities tailored just for them. And don't forget our morning WIN Time – where the real phonics magic happens! It's all about Words Their Way, a bit of Lexia, or hanging out with me for some skill-building fun! |

Reading We've been on a Mo Willems adventure in our reading corner! We dived into the world of Elephant & Piggie, soared with the Pigeon, and discovered a few other treasures along the way! After spring break, we ventured into new territory with Mo's chapter book "The Story of Diva and Flea" – and guess what? We just wrapped it up today! Challenge your little one to share the secret of what a "flaneur" is and test your child's memory – ask them about the setting in Diva & Flea! Throughout our reading journey, we've been exploring settings, characters, and major events, all while uncovering those key details. |

|
This week, we dived into another Mo Willems gem: "Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed"! But before we cracked open the book, we took a deep dive into the world of naked mole rats. We learned, discussed, and even enjoyed a video to beef up our background knowledge! As a special treat, our little scholars earned the chance to watch "Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Underground Rock Experience". While we didn't get a chance to compare and contrast the book and the movie (time just flew by!), I encourage you to spark that conversation with your kiddo this weekend. I've even linked the movie for your enjoyment – beware, those catchy tunes had our classroom buzzing all afternoon! 🎶 | | |

Writing In our writing adventures, we're honing our narrative skills like seasoned storytellers! We're weaving tales with clear beginnings, exciting middles, and satisfying endings in our personal narratives. Each budding author is at their own unique stage in the planning process, crafting their masterpiece. This week, we've been sprinkling extra magic into our writing and illustrations, encouraging the kiddos to add more specific details to their stories. Keep your eyes peeled – you'll soon be treated to some of these fantastic tales as they make their way home over the next few weeks! |

Math Our math adventures are in full swing as we explore composing and decomposing numbers up to 10! It's all about breaking down numbers and putting them back together like math wizards. We've been buzzing with excitement on our Seesaw account, diving into engaging addition and subtraction activities. Want to see your little mathematician's progress? Head over to Seesaw for a front-row view! |

Science/ Social Studies We kicked off our week with a quick peek into the world of Materials, Forces & Motion, and we're gearing up to dive deeper into these topics next week. But hold onto your hats, because the spotlight this week has been on something truly extraordinary – the upcoming solar eclipse! |
|
|
Second Step This week in Second Step, we tackled the tough topic of handling disappointment when things don't go our way. While there wasn't a Home Link for this lesson, we dove deep into strategies for managing those tricky feelings. Plus, we had a special visit from Ms. Kibblesmith on Wednesday for our SAIG group after lunch. Together, we kept the conversation rolling on whole-body listening and mastering problem-solving skills with friends! |
