Take heart! The days are getting longer! |

I know Portland just had a crazy amount of snow, but.....I heard birds the other day out my window and smiled at the first sign that the seasons are changing. I love the seasons. Having always lived somewhere with seasons, I can both appreciate them and complain about them at the same time. I love the snow but hate the cloudy and rainy days which predominate the Pacific Northwest in the winter, so I am always looking for the warming earth and some sun shining through. And yes, I am thoroughly enjoying this snow! With the shifting of the earth and the movement that brings, we are now ready for a springtime cleanse. This will get your spark going and put a spring in your step (I promise!). This cleanse is unlike most other cleanses out there in that it really focuses on not only cleaning out but also nourishing your body and instilling some new habits that you can take with you. We focus on simple intermittent fasting techniques, new recipes, the elimination of inflammatory foods and the introduction of beneficial microbes into your digestive system. |

Chinese New Year happened on January 22nd of this year, culminating for many, with festivities on February 5th. |

We are entering a year of the Yin Water Rabbit which will be a nice reprieve from the Yang Water Tiger. The rabbit energy is generally more calm and peaceful. The rabbit is usually cautious and thinks before making decisions and taking action. Yin Water is connected to the kidney energy and encourages gentleness and self-care as we help others around us. Simply getting to bed before midnight and making time for meditation or quiet sitting can help support the Yin Water energy. This can help your hormones, stress levels, memory and help you feel better overall. Doing the things that improve your well being, help to fill your parenting cup too. In general Rabbits often symbolize fertility, creativity and good luck. Overall, the people that are born in the year of the Rabbit are very caring, and share their gifts to help others. The Yin Water aspect can help connect you to your inner wisdom to help balance giving and receiving. Take advantage of this year to be thoughtful and intentional about actions and choices. The energetic flow is pushing us in that direction, so the more we ride that wave the more productive the outcome will be. |

February 20th was the New Moon! This is the start of the Worm Moon Cycle. One day before this cycle ends is the first day of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere, March 20th. |
New moon cycles in spring are incredibly powerful as that alignment between what is emerging within and without is so strong! So watch the skies, feel the earth. What's rising within yourself and your family? How will you be made new? What to do during this New Moon cycle: * Now is the time to set intentions for the lunar cycle ahead (ending on March 20th). What intentions are you wanting to put into action? Take a few minutes at dinner, in the car, or over breakfast to have a conversation with your family, however small. The goal is not to do it perfectly but to just start to gently tune into this rhythm together. We are so very disconnected from the Earth and the cycles that even this small action has big ripples! |

Who wants to be a part of a book club? |
Starting Thursday, April 6th, for 6 weeks we will gather once a week in an online community to discuss one of my favorite reflective parenting books, The Parent’s Tao Te Ching. The interpretation of this book through a parenting lens of the Tao Te Ching is beautiful and applicable no matter what the age of your child. I have returned to this book over the years at various stages and found comfort and guidance each time.
