The senseless and brutal aggression on the free and peace-loving Ukrainian people by Putin's Russia continues to occupy the minds of us all, as we each do what is in our power to support Ukraine and Ukrainians in their heroic fight for their homeland and defend freedom. The values of peace, freedom and justice will and must prevail.

Meet KESKUS donors Krista Käis-Prial & Paul-Erik Veel

Meet Krista Käis-Prial and Paul-Erik Veel who are among recent Viru Vanemad donors to KESKUS.  For them, being Estonian is but one aspect of their lives in Toronto, one that is filled with a growing family, the practice of law, music and friends.  Krista and Paul-Erik support the vision of KESKUS, a home in which little little Liina and her sibling due later this year, will participate in their heritage. Construction update

Here's what happened last week with a look ahead: The general contractor mobilized to the site last week in preparation for subcontractors to arrive. The site will be made safe by electrical and mechanical contractors in the week ahead, before selective site demolition can begin. Demolition will involve both manual and machine work that will clear the KESKUS site of unwanted structural components currently in the way of the upcoming deep foundation effort. This demolition will continue over the next five weeks, and while that goes on, mobilisation for the shoring, caisson and micropile work will also get underway.  Read more here, eesti keeles siin.

KESKUS donors rally to help meet higher construction costs

Kalevipoja laud donors to KESKUS have in many cases doubled and some even tripled their original donations to help meet escalated construction materials costs.  This continued generosity allows construction to confidently commence - all permits are now in place for KESKUS International Estonian Centre to commence construction in the cultural hub of downtown Toronto and preconstruction work has begun on site.  Read more here, eesti keeles siin.
