ACCOUNTABILITY

The past week has been a devastating time in our world with Russia waging war on (my motherland) Ukraine. I always tell my clients that when we go through times in our lives when it seems like there are so many things out of our control, we must lean into the things we CAN control and what better way than through honoring our healthy intentions.

 

It wouldn't be a new month without a brand new Healthy Intentions with O'Brien Fitness tracking sheet, now would it?

 

In this month's newsletter I wanted to discuss how important ACCOUNTABILITY is when it comes to staying on track with your goals--whatever they may be. Let's face it, you can have the BEST program tailored for you to get you from point A to point B in a particular timeframe, but if you do not have a method in place to keep you ACCOUNTABLE with your actions, your chances of straying off course are exponential. 

 

Let's first define what it means to be "accountable" followed by a few of my suggestions to help you be more accountable this month with your healthy intentions.

The fact or condition of being accountable; responsibility.

KEEP A HABIT TRACKER

The first page of the PDF is an example of healthy intentions you want to work on this month. Try to pick three intentions: the first one is easy for you to accomplish, the second is moderately challenging and the third intention is meant to really push you.

Print off page two, fill in your intentions and place your PDF somewhere you will see it often (on your fridge, by your night stand, etc.). At the end of each day, fill in the intentions you accomplished that day!

VIRTUAL WELLNESS COACHING

Virtual Wellness Coaching is the most convenient and effective way to stay accountable to your goals and achieve long-term success. Virtual sessions are 30-minutes long and offered weekly, bi-weekly or monthly. Also, receive unlimited text and email communication with me outside of our scheduled sessions with every weekly or bi-weekly package.

VIRTUAL PERSONAL TRAINING

It's certainly easy to get in your own head and convince yourself of all the reasons you can't make your workout happen.

COMMIT TO AN EVENT

Commit to an event that will require you to train for it in order to participate.

 

Sign-up to walk or run a 10K or half-marathon; join a team for a charitable organization's fundraising event. If you really want a challenge, sign-up to compete in a physique competition or sport you enjoy.

COMMIT TO A PARTNER OR TEAM

Let's face it. It's easy to let yourself down by not staying committed to your intentions. But it's a lot harder to let down a partner or a team that is depending on you showing up.

 

Join an adult rec league or enroll in a class with a friend at your local community center.

ACCOUNTABILITY = RESPONSIBILITY

If we reflect back on what it means to be accountable, the word "responsibility" is in its very definition. Ultimately, accountability still requires you to be responsible for your actions. You need to CHOOSE to try.

 

There is responsibility in reaching out for help be it for Wellness Coaching or Personal Training. There is responsibility in keeping your appointments you committed to. There is responsibility in showing up for your partner or teammates so you don't let them down.

 

There's still a degree of responsibility in the very accountability you seek.
