Fall 2021 Newsletter

Welcome to the first edition of my studio Newsletter! I am so pleased to share information about events, sales, and new artwork. I can't thank you enough for your interest and support of my art – it is an honor to share my work with you.

Starting a New Chapter

After eight fulfilling years teaching high school studio art, I decided in June to make the leap to working full time as a painter, ceramic artist, and illustrator. I feel a deep sense of gratitude for my family and friends who have encouraged me to take this big step. As I turn my focus to my home studio and say “yes” to ideas and opportunities that have taken a back-seat for many years, I find myself feeling like a beginner again in some wonderful ways. This passage from Julia Cameron’sThe Artist’s Way is close to my heart as I get started:

"The grace to be a beginner is always the best prayer for an artist. The beginner's humility and openness lead to exploration. Exploration leads to accomplishment. All of it begins at the beginning, with the first small and scary step."

Where to Shop

Caitlin Allen Studio - Etsy

I love sending and receiving hand-written notes. Letters to say “thank you!” and “thinking of you!” are always meaningful to me. I’ve started a collection of watercolor notecards that feature scenes from my travels and quiet moments from my own garden. Find all nine designs available through Etsy. I'll be updating the shop with ceramics in mid October.

Custom Work

It has been my joy to work on custom projects for a wide range of clients, family, and friends over the past 15 years. I would be excited to talk with you to develop a specialized project for your home, workplace, or a gift for someone in your life.

Custom ceramics, paintings, and design work may take 6 to 8 weeks to complete, so if you are considering something for the holidays, now is the time to reach out! Take a look at the “Custom” page on my website for pricing details.
