Questa Pasqua è segnata dal dolore, in Italia e in molte altre parti del mondo. È difficile pensare alla vita, alla speranza, alla risurrezione nelle nostre città silenziose, dilaniate dal suono delle sirene delle ambulanze.
Per questo, ho scelto come mio augurio un Preludio Corale di Johann Sebastian Bach trascritto da Camillo Togni (compositore italiano del Novecento) per pianoforte. La melodia del Corale di Bach è la versione luterana della Sequenza di Pasqua Victimae Paschali Laudes. Nonostante la musica un po' cupa, il messaggio è di vita e speranza, perché annuncia la vittoria su quella morte che sembra attraversare la nostra quotidianità.
Ho perciò scelto di accostare questa musica ad immagini artistiche e tratte dalla nostra attualità, e vorrei mandare a tutti voi un abbraccio pieno di incoraggiamento, speranza, fede e affetto, non ignorando il dolore, ma sbocciando "dentro" di esso.

This Easter is marked by grief, in Italy and in many other countries. It is difficult to think about life, hope, resurrection, in our silent cities, pierced by the sound of sirens.
Therefore, for my Easter greetings, I chose a Chorale Prelude by Johann Sebastian Bach in the piano transcription by Camillo Togni (an Italian composer of the 20th century). The melody of Bach's Chorale is the Lutheran version of the Easter Sequence Victimae Paschali Laudes.
Even though the music is seemingly melancholic, the message it conveys is one of life and hope, as it announces Christ's victory over death, the death which seems to enter our daily lives. I have therefore chosen to accompany this music with images taken from the extraordinary artistic heritage of my country, Italy, and with others from what we're currently living. My purpose is therefore is to transmit hope, encouragement, faith and affection, not by ignoring grief, but by blossoming "inside" it.
